What Is Likely To Happen in 2016
One of the trends that will not be stopped is the Internet of Things. More and more smart devices are ending up in the hands and pockets of consumers all over the world and allowing these devices to connect to each other will be a major achievement. Making smart devices even smarter will be an interesting challenge, though, as there are so many other things to take into consideration. At the top of that priority list, though, should be consumer protection.
The future of robotics will be another interesting trend to keep an eye on over the next twelve months. While the opinions might be divided as to how this sector will evolve, companion robots are making their way into the home of consumers around the world. But will they ever be able to fully replace humans in certain key areas? Only time will tell.
Technology will play an important role in our daily lives, especially when it comes to consumerism and payments. The Information Age is almost upon us, and the companies embracing technology trends will prevail in the long run. Additionally, technology will be beneficial to these companies regarding analytics, loyalty, and even consumer privacy.
On the other hand, security issues will need to be addressed. Throughout 2015, there was a multitude of database breaches, DDoS attacks, malware, and ransomware. Companies will need to step up their game to address these attacks before they can become consumer issues. Keeping user data safe should be the number one priority at any given time.
Wearable devices will see a make-or-break year in 2016 as well. Up until this point, plenty of consumers have been buying wearables, yet they hardly use them after a few months have passed. Incentivizing users to be active and stay healthy is an important hurdle to overcome, yet cracking the code will be extremely difficult.
Bitcoin And Blockchain In 2016
Most of the focus will be on the next Bitcoin block reward halving, as well as which solutions will be used to address the block size debate. Both of these events will have a major impact on the future of Bitcoin and its underlying blockchain technology. That being said, the blockchain can carry on regardless of what happens to Bitcoin.
With so much focus on blockchain technology in 2015, some of the projects based on this protocol will come to fruition in 2016. A lot of venture capitalist funding has been flowing into these companies over the past 24 months and the time has come to start delivering on some of these promises.
