It has been so long ago since we last saw a Quark clone. For those of you who aren’t too good at reading between the lines, that was internet sarcasm.
Either way, QuarkBar is the name of this new cryptocurrency. Based on the Quark algorithm, but with some minor twists and tweaks.
Before you go looking for a download link for the QuarkBar client, it isn’t available yet. Release of all the clients will take place tomorrow, at 1 PM GMT tomorrow. Unless you are on Mac OS X, because that client will not be ready for launch, as of this writing.
QuarkBar will have a total coin supply cap of 15,482,880 QuarkBars, with blocks rewarding 128 QB (halving roughly every 2 weeks),and blocks are generated every 30 seconds.
QuarkBar will also have the Kimoto Gravity Well implemented from the start. This feature used to be pretty unique but lately it has lost some of its shine. Not saying the feature isn’t useful anymore though
Unlike other Quark clones, QuarkBar will not have a pre-mine. Whether or not this really will be the case remains to be seen tomorrow of course. The fact that there are QuarkBar bounties , but they are being paid in LiteCoin, works in their favor though.
It will be interesting to see how people will react to QuarkBar once they launch tomorrow. Surely, there will be quite a bit of hate from a lot of people, but that doesn’t mean QuarkBar can’t succeed.
