My attention was brought to a super-human themed crypto currency. It’s quite a juicy one, so you’ll want to devour it with your teeth while the blood is still pumping through its veins. I’m talking about none other than LycanCoin.
For those of you where are unaware, LycanCoin refers to “lycantrophy”, which in plain english means “werewolves”. Now, before you go turn away, I know werewolves don’t exist, you know werewolves don’t exist. Or do they?
Being a big fan of the “Underworld” movies (heck, I even bought the 4th one on Bluray in an actual store because I wanted to see it so badly), I can see the appeal, or “niche market”, for these types of coins.
LycanCoin was first introduced on February 8th of this year, and launched together with VampireCoin and ZombieCoin in the same week. The major difference between these three coins is the block reward.
LycanCoin is a Scrypt crypto currency, with a block reward of 2,970 LYC, which are generated roughly every 2.5 minutes. Difficulty re-targets every 2 hours, and there will be a total of 4,950,000,000 coins in existence.
Currently, there are no services available yet for LycanCoin. The developer is working on “something”, but we have no exact details as to what this entails. If you have an interesting idea for a service, get in touch with the developer I’d say.
Even though the fact there are no real services developed for LycanCoin would make the coin completely useless to a lot of you, it is in fact being traded on Cryptsy, at a current price of 135 Satoshi per coin, making it very profitable to mine.
It’ll be interesting to see what will happen with LycanCoin in the future. It has been getting some attention from “people higher up the foodchain” (no pun), so it seems as if something is about the happen. Maybe at the next full moon?
