Some serious issues arise in the WhiteCoin camp overnight. There is a lot of information out there, part of which is true, part of which isn’t. I’ll tell you what we have confirmed as true from people looking at the right now.
Fact #1 : The WhiteCoin code did not include the part where it would switch over to PoS after block 10,000. Even though the WhiteCoin Multipool was put up on beforehand to make sure the transition was smooth, the code just doesn’t support PoS.
There is no code in the WhiteCoin clients for coin age staking, and WhiteCoin blocks can still be mined like they could before block 10,000. A few developers are looking at the code right now to see if they can rectify the issue.
Fact #2 : The original WhiteCoin developer team has bailed on the coin. They are nowhere to be heard or seen. You might see the OP active on BitcoinTalk, but that is because someone else has control of the account now.
Fact #3 : An emergency fix, which will include an emergency fork, is currently being developed. All WhiteCoin users are asked not to send any transactions at the moment, because this update can go live at any second from now.
FUD #1 : A lot of people are claiming the original WhiteCoin developers have cashed out their pre-mine and whatnot on exchanges. We have no proof of this happening as of right now. As long as we can’t say for certain, it didn’t happen.
We will keep you updated on this story as it further develops.
