Our small country of Belgium was treated to a nice surprise a few days ago, when Outpost announced the installation of Bitcoin ATM’s in two of their locations. The stores in Antwerp and Ghent are now home to Bitcoin dispensers which will convert fiat currency into Bitcoin at your request.
Outpost Gamecenters – Gaming Galore
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the concept of an Outpost Gamecenter, let me explain. Over here in Belgium, we have three different Outpost Gamecenters, located in Brussels, Ghent and Antwerp. Most people would assume this is “just another comic book shop” but nothing could be further from the truth.
As the name suggests, these Outpost Gamecenters are a place where games are played in a competitive nature. And we are not talking about your regular board games like Monopoly or Scrabble here, but a different breed of games. One of the most played type of game is Card Game Tournaments, featuring card games such as Magic: The Gathering. To accommodate the needs of Card Gamers, Outpost Gamecenters offer an extensive back catalogue to fill up your card decks and obtain that one specific card you have been looking for.
But card games are not the only popular way of passing time at an Outpost Gamecenter, as board games are still very popular. A wide variety of top rated boardgames can be bought at the Outpost Gamecenters, and you can also play them with other like-minded people completely free of charge at these locations. Look at it as a place to hang out for people with similar interests.
Of course, PC gaming has taken the world by storm over the last decade, and the Outpost Gamecenters have adapted so they can cater to this crowd as well. Every location hosts a wide selection of computers, all of which have the latest popular games installed. No more going to an LAN party at someone’s home, just head on over to an Outpost Gamecenter near you to enjoy a great atmosphere and competitive online play.
Two Bitcoin ATM’s
But enough talk about the Outpost Gamecenters themselves, let’s get down to the details regarding these two Bitcoin ATM’s which have been installed in Antwerp and Ghent. As you may have gathered from the introduction, Outpost staff are always keen on keeping up to date regarding the latest technological advancements, and it was only a matter of time until Bitcoin became a topic of debate.
Each of these Bitcoin ATM’s will allow customers to exchange fiat currency to Bitcoin and receive their digital currency on the spot. Both machines are manufactured by General Bytes and installed by Orillia, one of the companies also supporting the Ghent Bitcoincity initiative. These Bitcoin Kiosks are perfect for any brick-and-mortar retailer in the world.
Technical details of these Bitcoin Kiosks are as follows: each machine weighs approximately 20 kg and measure 32 x 38 x 27cm. Orillia’s Bitcoin Kiosks are designed to be unidirectional, and will only allow customers to exchange fiat currency to Bitcoin. Last but not least, these devices installed by Orillia are KYC/AML compliant, and they have an eye-catching yellow design [as you can see in the image on the right].
Last but not least, it is important to note that Outpost has no financial stake in the placement or management of these two Orillia Bitcoin Kiosks. The machines were placed in order to provide a Bitcoin service to customers who have been asking for it, and because the staff like the concept of Bitcoin from an enthusiast point of view.
