Catalan-based Bitcoin company Bitchain recently installed two additional Bitcoin ATM’s in the city of Barcelona. What makes these machines so important, is that one of the ATM’s is installed in one of Barcelona’s major shopping centres, which is the first of its kind to be placed in such a high-profile location.
Bitchain – Bringing Bitcoin To The Masses At Convenient Locations
The mission of Bitchain is simple to explain: bringing digital currency to the masses at high-profile locations by using convenient methods. Rather than following the lead of companies offering over-the-counter purchases of Bitcoin, Bitchain sticks with the more traditional business model of deploying digital currency ATM’s in Spain.
Combining Bitcoin’s peer-to-peer nature with its low transaction costs and flexible way of payments creates new universal payment structures. In the end, every person on this planet can benefit from the underlying technology powering the Bitcoin network, and Bitchain wants to bring that technology to everyday consumers in an easy-to-use form factor.
These two new Bitcoin ATM’s in shopping malls across Barcelona are just the first of up to 40 new machines Bitchain plans to deploy this year, both in Spain and the rest of Europe combined. Even though the company’s “bread and butter” is spreading the word of Bitcoin and digital currency, Bitchain is looking beyond the borders of Spain as well.
At this time, Bitchain has installed Bitcoin ATM’s and is running Bitcoin-related projects in major Spanish cities such as Madrid, Alicante, Malaga and Valencia. In fact, Bitchain is the first company to install a Bitcoin ATM in the city of Malaga, and it still is the only BTM in the province of Andalucia.
Bitcoin ATM’s in Barcelona’s Major Shopping Centers
Installing not one, but two Bitcoin ATM’s in shopping centers across the city of Barcelona is a major milestone for the disruptive digital currency. In fact, this is the first time a Bitcoin ATM appears inside a shopping center in Barcelona, which is an impressive notch in the Bitchain’s belt.
It is interesting to note that both machines are manufactured by BTCPoint, the Spanish market leader as far as Bitcoin ATM manufacturing is concerned. The two Bitcoin ATM’s that were recently installed, are two-way machines, allowing customers to convert fiat currency to Bitcoin and Bitcoin to fiat currency. At the time of publication, no official details regarding fees and commissions had been revealed.
As you would come to expect from Bitcoin, the ATM’s are located in places where there is a lot of foot traffic and this could be a great step forward for Bitcoin adoption. Both shopping centres are open from 10am until 10pm five days a week, giving customers ample chance to fulfill their Bitcoin needs.
