What the world of Bitcoin, altcoins and Crypto 2.0 needs is more positive stories. While the following story might not make a great impact on you or your life, it still shows novice users there is some good to be found in our world of cryptocurrency.
When I woke up this morning, and was eating my breakfast, I noticed I had received a private message on the BitcoinTalk forums. Not a unique event, as I usually get several a week for article requests or just general feedback.
Big was my surprise when I read the following message :
As you can see, getting a donation is great, and we really appreciate it. However, someone sending an amount to our address by accident hasn’t happened before, so I wasn’t entirely sure what to make of it.
As my StealthCoin wallet address is a Bittrex address, I logged in to my Bittrex account, and there it was , a deposit of 44,444 XST. So apparently the claim was valid, and we have to fix this issue as soon as possible.
I sent the following private message to BTCWriter, and got a reply :
So I did just that, and entered the provided XST address in BitTrex for a withdrawal. Enter your 2FA code, et voila, transfer is on its way. I made a screenshot of the transaction for future reference, just in case there would be a delay or some other technical issue :
After all, being honest is the right thing to do, and the money didn’t belong to me in the first place. Even though it was worth over 6 Bitcoin worth of StealthCoin, I have been working hard on building up a reputation on BitcoinTalk and in the crypto community.
Shortly after, I received the following message from BTCWriter :
Even though all of this started out as a mistake, BTCWriter was kind enough to send us a 5,000 XST donation for all the trouble we went through. I did tell him he didn’t owe me anything, but we do appreciate the donation of course.
Long story short : even in the world of crypto, or should I say, especially in the world of crypto, being honest still goes a long way. I know there is a lot of pumping, dumping, FUDing, trashing, scamming and whatnot going on. We need to work on our image a bit and focus more on the positive things going on.
(Please note I did not include my XST donation address as I’m not looking to get any donations for this article, I just wanted to tell you my experiences and I hope you enjoyed the article.)
