Bitcoin embassies are popping up all over the world it seems, and one of the latest additions to that list is the Bitcoin Embassy in Amsterdam. The main objectives of such an entity are to inform anyone and everyone about Bitcoin along every step of the way, as well as organizing interactive events in order to increase Bitcoin awareness.
Bitcoin Embassy Amsterdam : Brief Introduction
Bitcoin Embassy Amsterdam offers a bit of something for everyone, whether you want to learn more about Bitcoin itself, startups, development, entrepreneurial enquiries and much, much more. There is even a Bitcoin Cafe, where you can talk things over with like-minded people while enjoying a hot coffee or a refreshing beverage.
Furthermore, there is the Bitcoin Box Shop, which sells a lot of gadgets and security products in order to make sure your bitcoins are safe from harm. At the Bitcoin Embassy in Amsterdam, you can also find a BTM, allowing users to both buy and sell BTC in exchange for fiat currency. Last but not least, why not stop by at the Bitcoin Restaurant to watch the sunset, have a nice meal and pay in Bitcoin?
Amsterdam’s Bitcoin Embassy is open to everyone from Tuesday until Saturday, between noon and 9PM. However, not all of that time is spent on just the topics mentioned above, as the Bitcoin Embassy has a jam-packed event calendar for the next few weeks. We will highlight some of the most interesting topics, and discuss them briefly.
Bitcoin Embassy Amsterdam : Busy Calendar
Amsterdam’s Bitcoin Embassy’s calendar has several weekly recurring events, one of which is called Open Bazar. Taking place every Tuesday between the hours of 5PM and 8PM, Open Bazar is all about mingling with like-minded enthusiasts and executing live peer-to-peer trades of both Bitcoins and altcoins. It’s interesting to see the focus being a bit diversified, even though it is a Bitcoin Embassy, and not an Altcoin Embassy.
Every Wednesday of the week, Basic Bitcoin for Beginners is taking place from 3:30PM until 5:30PM. As you would come to expect from such a name, this recurring “class” focuses on explaining the basic principles about Bitcoin, the blockchain, and everything else you need to know in order to delve deeper into the specifics.
But that’s only part of the fun, as straight afterwards, we have Bitcoin Happy Hour. As the Bitcoin Embassy Amsterdam is located next to Hofje van Wijs, a local bar which started accepting Bitcoin recently, visitors can enjoy two drinks for the price of 1. A very generous offer, and a great way to start the evening. Bitcoin Happy Hour lasts until 6:30PM.
I did mention before how the focus of the Bitcoin Embassy in Amsterdam is also on altcoins. To take things one step further, you can attend the weekly Altcoin Corner , taking place every Thursday between 5PM and 8PM. All matters in regards to altcoins will be discussed during this time, and every session is open for debate.
Friday is an important day of the week, and starting this Friday, there will be a BitPay Weekly Borrel (drink). This a newly added recurring event during the hours of 5PM and 6:30PM. No official topic has been given at this point, except for celebrating the fact that Microsoft is now accepting Bitcoin payments. Huzzah!
But all of that was just an introduction to the most important part of the agenda, which is….

According to the event calendar, there are plans in motion to host a weekly Live Broadcast from inside Amsterdam’s Bitcoin Embassy. The recurring broadcast is scheduled to take place between 7:30PM and 8PM . No official starting date has been announced yet other than “the middle of January 2015”.
