One of the coins I have received requests about it BitStar. With transaction anonymity being a continual trend, and BitStar implementing exactly that, you can see why it has become rather popular. Let’s see what else it can do!
BitStar was originally launched on April 17th 2014, and hasn’t gotten too much attention until very recently. The reason for that is because there was a six week mining period, which recently came to an end.
But don’t be worried, as you can still mine BitStar through its very own multipool. Supported algorithms are Scrypt, SHA-256 and X11. As of this writing the statistics showed no one mining there on either algorithm, but that could be a bug in the statistics.
You can find out more about the BitStar Multipool here.
Now I did mention BitStar has anonymity features built-in. I’ve browsed through their entire thread and couldn’t find how they actually implemented it. What we do know however, is that this service is not free. There is a 1% fee to cover tx fees, server fees and to build input transaction.
BitStar also had a 3% initial pre-mine, of which most has been spent by now. The development of unseen advanced features was paid with 25% of the pre-mine. 50% was used for giveaways and bounties. 25% is set aside for the Mentelity Foundation charity. (http://www.mentelityfoundation.org/)
Let’s take a look at BitStar’s technical features :
– Now full PoS (was Scrypt PoW)
– 24 hour PoS staking
– Total PoW+POS coin supply: 54.25 million. (PoW ended May 2014 at 15 million)
– Check current coin supply via http://explorer.bitstarcoin.com (Currently 15.4m)
– POS interest: 35%, 25%, 10% and 1% changing annually. (35% for 1st year)
– Only 4 confirmations for a transaction
– 80 confirmations for blocks to mature!
– Very low transaction fees ( 0.001 )
– NO IPO
– 3% initial premine
As far as exchanges go, BitStar can be traded on both BitTrex & Poloniex.
Besides some games, no real services have been announced for BitStar at this point. However, we will keep an eye out for any further updates and announcements, and keep our readers informed accordingly.
