Circle, a well-known service among Bitcoin enthusiasts worldwide, opened its services to the world earlier today, as stated in their blog post. Over the past few months, we have seen several screenshots of their internet-centric consumer financial services.
“When we set out to build Circle, we imagined a new kind of Internet-centric consumer financial service, one that the average person would find enjoyable and powerful, built on the promises of Bitcoin – instant, global, secure, free transactions.”
The main idea behind Circle is simple : creating a beautiful and easy-to-use platform while reducing the friction people experience when dealing with Bitcoin. Last but not least, as Bitcoin is another form of digital money, Circle has to be instant and free to use.
When depositing, converting, sending or receiving money, Circle executes all transactions (nearly) instantly, giving it a leg up compared to their major competitors. No one likes to wait for transactions or conversions to complete, as time is money after all.
As Circle opened its door to a global audience, the team made sure their services have been translated into seven different languages. English, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese (Brazilian), Spanish (Latin American), German and French are all supported for both the main website as well as the support section. More languages will be added over time as Circle keeps growing more popular.
One of the main selling points about Circle is their customer insurance in case of theft. Circle guarantees a 100% Bitcoin balance insurance of the full deposit value for all customers. Even though insurance on Bitcoin is a new market, offering such a valuable service does not go unnoticed. In order to provide this insurance on Bitcoin, Circle has partnered up with Marsh, one of the largest insurance brokers in the world.
Having Circle available to a global audience is only one aspect of the team’s plans, as they are looking to bring native applications for both iOS and Android to the consumer in the near future. These companion applications to Circle’s web-based service are currently in beta, but they should be available “soon”.
On top of that, the Circle team is looking to bring more functionalities online for their international customers as well. Storing and using digital money anywhere in the world has just become a lot easier for everyone, and we can’t wait to see which features will be made available in the future!
