In the light of the recent events transpiring on BitcoinTalk where BlockNet and Dan Metcalf are concerned, it was only a matter of time before an official statement would be released. As many people are slinging mud in the direction of Dan Metcalf, he took the time to write up a personal statement regarding his involvement in XC, other coins, and a few other things. It’s well worth your time to read, and I have quoted Dan’s statement in its entirety below.
“Over the last several days, a massive smear campaign made numerous false statements about XC, Blocknet, Prometheus and myself.
For those who have been involved with XC, know that I completed numerous code reviews which I was compensated for. A few of these coins were also associated with Prometheus who openly and publicly supported and promoted these projects. It was public knowledge at that time about the collaboration between Prometheus and myself.
At no time however, was I involved in any attempt to dump any of these coins nor was it ever mentioned or discussed in any of my dealings with Prometheus. It was nothing more than freelance work, and did not involve any type of conspiracy.
In fact I consider Prometheus an ethical promoter based on my dealings with him and anybody who knows Prometheus knows that he is 100% open and public about his coin promotions. To my knowledge Prometheus has never scammed anyone, so it is hypocritical to call him out when there are legitimate scams going on. My intention has only been to develop technology that enriches crypto and collaborate with all those involved.
I was never the developer for any of those coins either or any of the coins involved in Blocknet, however I did offer suggestions and recommendations to the developers based on my reviews. I also developed KEYOS for the KeyTeam, which was a paid project which was also public knowledge and was publicly stated.
However this is now being painted in a bad light by this smear campaign, which has made numerous accusations and assumptions about the work I have done, work that was publicly announced on twitter and the forums.
Not only that, I’m being accused of creating and developing numerous coins with in blocknet. Nothing could be further than the truth. Each of the coins has its own development team and unique technology that adds value to blocknet and its vision.
The Blocknet is a large and potentially revolutionary project. There probably isn’t a single pumper in crypto who isn’t interested in it. There is nothing I can do about their buying and selling BLOCK.
Blocknet is not a scam nor was it ever a scam. It is a legitimate project which is competing against another similar project and one must logically wonder why this smear campaign has taken public information and twisted into a negative spotlight. What is the motivation for this?
When XC was launched it faced a similar FUD campaign by supporters of its direct competitor. History often repeats itself.
Furthermore I am being accused of being P&D scammer, which I take great offence to, as everything I did was stated publicly, so this is nothing but another conspiracy theory. Not only that, I am also being accused of being Prometheus, which is another wild conspiracy theory, the fact remains that I was open and public about all of these freelance projects that I was involved with.
Nor was I involved in any type of coordinated dumping of any of these coins. To think that I would have the ability to control the markets in this way is nothing but another conspiracy theory.
Finally, I would like to comment on XC’s POW period and premine. At no point was I paid to stop XC’s POW. The decision was made on numerous factors, including an extremely high hash rate out of china of over 500Gh, and direct dumping on the exchanges of those coins. XC’s premine was used to fund the development of the mobile app, xchat, the anonymous solution, and marketing.
We at CryptoArticles would like to both thank and applaud Dan Metcalf for taking the time and effort to defend his position, even though he has absolutely no obligation to do so.
