DirectBet.eu, rated the #1 online sportsbook by BitcoinTalk members, is looking to expand their customer base by adding a new altcoin to the list of supported currencies. Currently, DirectBet supports Bitcoin,Litecoin,Dogecoin and recently added Darkcoin to that list. Let’s take a look at the new contenders!
Even though I am personally not a fan using polls on BitcoinTalk in order to determine the outcome of any vote, it is a way to reach a broader audience. Most of us know however that these polls are way too easy to be manipulated, and the result will not necessarily benefit DirectBet.eu in any way. But I digress!
Nearly 500 votes have been cast so far, and by the looks of things, Monero is clearly in the lead. Not only does this go to prove the point I just made, but it’s also very interesting to see exactly that altcoin on top of the poll vote. I know we have not covered Monero on this site yet, but it is scheduled for January, so make sure to keep an eye out for that article.
With 41% of the votes going to Monero, it looks like this poll is pretty much in the books already. There is an interesting battle going on for second place at the moment, as both CLAM and NXT are within 12 votes of one another. Do keep in mind CLAM has recently been added to FortuneJack as a payment method as well.
From a neutral standpoint, as I have no investment in either of those three coins, nor have we written articles about them, one thing strikes me as odd. None of the tree coins mentioned would be associated with online gambling or betting in my mind. For me, they all give off a “not too novice friendly cryptocurrency”.
And that is what worries me most about these kinds of polls, especially from the perspective of DirectBet.eu. Adding more altcoins is a great choice, don’t get me wrong. But if they are not easy to access for novice users (by trading them for fiat currency directly, or without too much technical knowledge required), there is no benefit for adding them when looking at things in the long run,
As odd as this may sound, I actually don’t see any coin in that list I would add to DirectBet.eu in the near future. Even though you could make a case for Ripple,, simply because of their huge market cap, I’m not sure it would be a wise choice.
But what are your thoughts on this list of coins folks? Leave a comment below!
