When it comes to keeping your cryptocurrency safe and secure, there are quite a lot of different solutions to tackle this problem .However, all you really need is a computer with a decent antivirus and some form of malware protection. F-Secure, a well-known computer security software company, will be selling anti-malware subscriptions in exchange for Opalcoin as of January 5th.
After first reading the announcement, the first thing popping in to my head was : “when did I last hear the name F-Secure being used to recommend computer security software?” Not because F-Secure is a bad brand or anything, but the name has been pushed to the background in most IT circles over the past few years. Despite all of that, F-Secure still has a market cap of US$300 million, so a lot of people and companies are still relying on their services.
What struck me as really interesting is the fact F-Secure is not accepting any form of cryptocurrency payments at the moment, and not even Bitcoin itself. So the questions becomes: why are they partnering with Opalcoin? Do keep in mind OPAL is still a relatively new altcoin in the world of digital currencies, but they seem to be making some big waves.
As Opalcoin has been the target of an attack in order to steal people’s funds by spreading malicious client download links, it only seem reasonable they reported this attack the relevant third parties, such as F-Secure. As a result, the F-Secure Safe anti-malware software can now be purchased with OPAL.
But that is not the only product Opalcoin community members and investors will be able to purchase come January 5th. F-Secure DeepGuard, an exploit interception system using proactive behavioral analysis is available for Windows, Mac OSX and Android, and can be paid for in OPAL as well as of next week.
The online store to purchase licenses for either F-Secure product will open up on January 5th, and all F-Secure Safe sales will be handled by Altcoin.Center. However, a limited amount of licenses is available for purchase right now. One year subscriptions for up to three devices will cost you 5,555 OPAL (or roughly 37 EUR). Keep in mind this is a 30 percent discount, as the regular subscription price is 59.99 EUR per year.
If you are interested in obtaining an F-Secure Safe license in exchange for OPAL ahead of the online store opening, read the detailed instructions at the bottom of this webpage. Three percent of all promotional campaign sales will de donated to OPAL development.
Now that F-Secure has opened the doors for cryptocurrency payments, it will be interesting to see if they will start accepting other digital currencies as well, such as Dogecoin or Litecoin. What are your thoughts? Will you contact F-Secure in order to get them to accept other coins as well? Leave a comment below!
