One of the things I love most about the world of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency is the fact anyone in the world can start their very own project in order to bring awareness to digital currency. As I am quite the sucker for anything merchandise-related, and T-shirts/hoodies in particular, I always try to keep an eye out for such projects.
When I saw the Cointhulhu T-shirt for the first time, I just had to buy one. That is, assuming the crowdsale reaches its goal, or otherwise I’ll end up with nothing (and no credit card bill either, but still). After all, only 16 tshirts need to get sold in order to make this campaign a success, and seven people have pledged their money so far.
A lot of people will probably have no idea who or what Cointhulhu is, so I did a little research for you guys. Research as in, I contacted the person who made the T-shirt design and asked him what it was all about. But still, he provided me with some very useful information!
CoinThulhu was born when a Dogecoin sacrifice was made during DogeParty.io’s Proof of Burn period. As you may have guessed from the name, DogeParty is a variant of CounterParty. DogeParty serves as a layer on top of Dogecoin for new coins that foster creativity and promote social good.
As a result of this DOGE sacrifice, an asset was born out of the ashes and 888 Cointhulhu tokens were born. The text on the T-shirt, “Hupadgh Fm’latgh”, translates to “Born of Burn” in R’lyehian, the language of the CoinThulhu, also known as The Deep One.
While the project itself is for fun, I have really taken a liking to the T-shirt design. Keeping in mind it only costs slightly over US$20, including shipping to Belgium, that’s quite a bargain for a very limited supply T-shirt. If you like the design, why not order one yourself?
