Social messenger application GetGems is taking the world by storm ever since they released the Android client a few days ago. Next to ever growing interest from the cryptocurrency community, venture capitalists are starting to take an interest in the GetGems project as well. As a result of this interest, GetGems, the startup behind Bitcoin social messenger GetGems, has raised US$400,000 in seed funding.
GetGems and Magma VC has agreed upon a strategic partnership in order make the GetGems social messaging application a worldwide success. You may recall the name Magma VC, as they were formerly the very first backer of the commonly used Israel-based Waze navigational system. More recently, Waze has been purchased by none other than Google.
Magma Venture Partners is a leading venture capitalist firm based in Israel, whose goal is to seek out the bright ideas at the early stages. Due to their seed funding, companies get to enable a flow of innovation all the way from the start, right up until said company can reach its full potential.
Magma VC’s Managing Partner and Co-Founder Modi Rosen told CryptoArticles the following :
“The combination of social messaging, and the transfer of value, is something we strongly believe in. GetGems is in a unique position to introduce Bitcoin Wallet and other new crypto-currencies to the wider consumer base. We’re very excited to be part of the journey and look forward to what’s next”.
One of the reasons for GetGems’ early success can be attributed to the fact they not only offer a secure Bitcoin wallet, but also reward their users for being active on the platform. These rewards come in the form of GEMZ, which is a cryptocurrency on top of the Bitcoin blockchain. BUt that is not all what makes the GetGems social messenger application so interesting.
By offering a mix of secure encrypted messaging and providing novice users the ability to hold a safe and secure Bitcoin wallet, GetGems allows users to easily transfer value to other users on the platform. Basically, you get a far more secure version of social messaging combined with financial freedom and the ability to send money to anyone else in the world.
Daniel Peled, the Founder and CEO of GetGems is very pleased with the partnership, as he stated : “The Team and I are super excited to work with the people and resources of Magma VC. They are well known for their venture capital support for the ever popular Waze, another Israel based tech company”
GetGems is currently running a crowdfunding program on the Koinify platform, and the company managed to raise 2,250 Bitcoin (roughly US$600,000) to date. On the Koinify platform, users can purchase GEMZ tokens , which can then be used via the GetGems social messenger in order to send to other users, pay for advertisements, etc.
