The Opalcoin developers have released a mandatory client update late last night, which fixes an issue with the OPAL blockchain, causing a network weight instability. A new feature has been built into this mandatory client update as well, allowing users to access the SuperNET wallet from your Opalcoin wallet. Let’s take a look!
The biggest reason for this mandatory OPAL client update is fixing the blockchain issues which had been discovered late last night. Most likely, someone tried to attack the network , potentially by using a misbehaving OPAL client. As a result of this attack, there were some issues being caused in regards to the network weight.
While the Opalcoin developers were working on fixing the issue, which fortunately didn’t last all that long, they advised all community members to stake their coins immediately, countering the network weight issue. With this mandatory client update, automatic checkpoints have been added, ensuring such a problem will not occur again.
Another part of this mandatory OPAL client update is the “Enter SuperNET” button. By clicking this button, users can enter the SuperNET wallet (assuming it is running) from SuperNET.org , directly from their OPAL client.
Do keep in mind this feature is not the major SuperNET implementation that was planned by the developers for the next client update. As this mandatory client update had to be delivered as soon as possible, the SuperNET integration will be completed for the next scheduled client update.
