A little while ago, we mentioned there would be a mandatory Sterlingcoin client upgrade coming soon. That client has been released slightly ahead of schedule, as an early Christmas present from the developer. The most important change is the addition of encrypted messaging.
But that is not the only change, as there has been a visual upgrade as well thanks to a change in the splash screen and the About page. All of the icons have been updated as well, seeing as several community members had issues reading some of them properly.
Let’s get to the good stuff though, as Sterlingcoin has added encrypted messaging to their list of available features. In order to communicate with other SLG users on the network, all you need is their Sterlingcoin address, and you are all set up.
Encrypted messaging has been a very popular for cryptocurrency, and more particularly altcoins, over the past 6-7 months. This feature is incredibly interested as it removes the need to explain novice users how IRC works, and why they should use it either through the browser, or as a standalone client.
Using address-to-address communication is an interesting way to increase your userbase as well. If you want to use Sterlingcoin’s encrypted messaging to communicate with friends or family, they will have to install the client on their computer as well.
