With the Christmas holidays and all, most of us have overlooked the newly released Vertcoin development roadmap, which has been released on December 22nd. Ever since the switch to Lyra2RE as the new mining algorithm, the new team has to look to the future and come with some plans to keep Vertcoin relevant. Let’s see what they have come up with so far.
The most important part about keeping a digital currency relevant is proper PR and marketing. Luckily for us, the Vertcoin team is thinking along the same lines in that regard. Unfortunately however, there are no means to conduct an extensive PR campaign at this point in time. Starting a fundraiser to pay for PR is one the plans being considered as of this writing.
Hyper-Adaptive Block Confirmation is second on the list for Vertcoin. To put it briefly, HABC is a new method to speed up block confirmation times. The developers are planning to put in a bock confirmation target time of 1 second, while still adapting to the speed of the Vertcoin network. Such a drastic change brings a lot of challenges to the table, and the team may have found a solution to that. More information will be announced shortly.
Last but not least, there will be a final discussion on a possible subsidy reduction, as well as whether or not to increase the block maturity time. No date has been provided on when these discussions will take place, but we will keep an eye out for further details.
