A lot of Bitcoin enthusiasts around the world are looking forward to Bitcoin Black Friday, which will take place tomorrow. A lot of partners have already announced their special deals and promotions for tomorrow, so make sure to check them out. On that list of companies, is Purse.io, who will be offering a 20% discount on any and all Amazon purchases. And by the looks of it, their Amazon discount service will expand soon, thanks to a successful round of seed funding.
The successful closing on this round of seed funding is partially thanks to some of the most prominent members of the Bitcoin community, and a total of US$300,000 has been collected. Some of these prominent members include Roger Ver, Bobby & Charlie Lee, FundersClub and StrongVC.
Purse.io told us that the money raised will be used to build Bitcoin applications and improve the overall user experience of their service. Purse.io co-founder Andrew Lee had the following to add:
“Our mission is to build awesome use cases that will drive mainstream bitcoin adoption. To do that, we also need to bridge the gap between ‘1-click shopping’ and shopping with bitcoin.”
Furthermore, Purse.io announced even more changes and updates, which have nothing to do with this round of seed funding. New data on the discounts provided for Amazon shoppers will be made available, a VIP membership is coming (see below) and the website will receive a graphical overhaul.
According to some recently released market data collected by Purse.io, the average discount percentage for Bitcoin shoppers has increased to 20%. While the company originally expected to maintain a discount of five to eight percent, those figures were exceeded easily, and all of that in just 7 months of existence.
Said discounts are not only great news for buyers, but they also serve as an incentive to push digital currency adoption by mainstream users. Purse.io creates a new use case for Bitcoin, as they give more people with credit cards access to Bitcoin.
Companies such as Purse.io constantly need to evolve and look at new revenue streams. Amazon gift cards is one of those revenue streams currently being explored, as Amazon gift card holders can exchange their cards and credit balances to Bitcoin through the Purse.io platform. With roughly US$15 billion in outstanding Amazon gift cards and credit balances, which can only be used on Amazon, a lot of revenue could be made in the future.
We briefly touched upon the Purse.io VIP membership, called Purse VIP. This membership is currently accessible on an invite-only basis, and it is aimed at Amazon Prime members. Purse VIP members are offered the best rates.when buying BItcoin through Purse.io’s platform, as they receive exclusive sub-10% discounts for the first 24 hours after offers are posted.
“To incentivize spenders to set lower discounts, we guarantee that their order will be fulfilled in less than 24 hours, or Purse will automatically purchase the order ourselves. So far, we haven’t bought any orders ourselves because they’re getting fulfilled even quicker. The average VIP order is fulfilled in under six hours and delivered in 2.5 days. This means merchandise is delivered as quickly as purchasing on Amazon directly with Prime.” – Andrew Lee
