There have been some very interesting developments over in the SaffronCoin ecosystem. A new Multi-Tasking beta wallet has been released, with two intriguing features called SFRMS and POOF!. Let’s take a look at what these acronyms means, shall we?
Before we get into more details, let’s talk about the other functionalities in the new SaffronCoin Multi-Tasking beta wallet first. I like to stay up-to-date on the latest announcements , and for that, I usually check Twitter first. This wallet has a Tweet box built-in, so you can stay up-to-date in regards to SFR news. I like!
As you may, or should remember from our previous SaffronCoin article here, this digital currency supports multiple algorithms. The Multi-Tasking beta wallet will show the current difficulty for each algorithm, as well as the total numbers of blocks at that time. All of this information is being called up directly from the blockchain.
For the SaffronCoin traders and investors among us, it’s also handy to have the current exchange rates at your disposal at all times. The data will be collected from the top 2 exchanges with the highest trading SFR volume. Stats will update every 15 minutes.
Other functionalities include receiving a notification when there is a client update and a built-in IRC chat function. The SaffronCoin Multi-Tasking beta wallet is the first client offering a full-fledged GUI block explorer.
Last but not least, there is also a feature called SFRMS. Care to find out more?
SFRMS
SFRMS is an important SaffronCoin feature, as this feature provides Email and/or SMS alerts for any transaction involving your SFR address. However, as this feature would require some form of anonymity (via encrypted messaging), the POOF! platform was developed!
POOF!
POOF! allows the users to send short messages (100 characters maximum) to others. But there is a twist, as the receiver only has a maximum of 15 seconds to read the message, before it self-destructs. Kind of like how SnapChat works.(https://www.snapchat.com/)
In order to encrypt the messages being sent via POOF! , the AES-256-CBC encryption is being used. You have to enter any key of your choice to encrypt a message, and provide the same key to your recipient so they can decrypt it.
The plan is to expand POOF!’s functionalities, by including various types of data that can be transmitted anonymously (file sharing/cloud storage?). POOF! doesn’t use the blockchain to transmit these messages, and is therefore a truly anonymous feature. And the messages self-destruct, how awesome is that!!!!
In order to activate SFRMS, a detailed guide has been posted by the SaffronCoin developers, which you can find here.
I have also added some screenshots to show off some of the SaffronCoin Multi-Tasking Beta wallet, which have been taken from this thread on BitcoinTalk.
