With Bitcoin Black Friday behind us, and a new week only beginning, the time has come for a new effort to increase Bitcoin awareness and bring positive attention to this cryptocurrency. Several Bitcoin organizations have come together in order to present Bitcoin Giving Tuesday, thanks to the participation of BitGive Foundation, the Bitcoin Foundation, Circle, Changetip, BitPay and Bitcoin Black Friday.
The main objective of Bitcoin Giving Tuesday is allowing Bitcoin enthusiasts all over the world to make donations for a greater cause, regardless of the amount they want to pledge. Whereas most causes have a certain minimum (US$10 for example), this campaign allows for any denomination of money to be pledged for the full 100%.
Make sure to visit the Bitcoin Giving Tuesday website , where you can find a complete list of all participating charities. In order to raise even more awareness, make sure to use the hashtag #GivingTuesday on social media as well when talking about this event.
ChangeTip, one of the most popular Bitcoin tipping services (which we have also incorporated here on CryptoArticles below every article), will be aligning their #TippingTuesday campaign on social media with the hashtag #BitcoinGivingTuesday.
Bitcoin donations for the good cause is slowly gaining more and more adoption, as several well-known charities have recently started accepting Bitcoin donations. Some of these charities include American Red Cross, Save The Children and Greenpeace, which are also participating in Bitcoin Giving Tuesday.
The BitGive Foundation has played a pivotal role in raising Bitcoin donations for Save The Children, which has lead to this charity now directly accepting BTC donations, which are processed by BitPay, for their #StopEbola campaign.
“Accepting bitcoin donations seemed like a natural next step for us. We have already seen the generosity of the bitcoin community, and working with BitPay allows us to keep 100% of the donations, helping us serve even more children,” said Ettore Rossetti, Director of Digital Marketing & Social Media at Save the Children.
The most recent campaign involving the BitGive Foundation welcomed Medic Mobile to the world of Bitcoin and digital currency. Medic Mobile is a non-profit organization using technology to support over 7,800 health workers, as well as save lives, in 21 countries across Asia, Latin America and Africa.
“We are excited to partner with the BitGive Foundation and offer a way for Bitcoin’s passionate community to support our mission. Every donation helps support community health workers in the hardest-to-reach places,” Josh Nesbit, CEO of Mobile Medic, told news outlets.
Bitcoin support on #GivingTuesday empowers cryptocurrency enthusiasts to donate even as little as US$0.01, and still see 100% of their donation go towards the cause they want to support. It is a little known fact charities are charged a transaction cost for each and every transaction going into their bank account. This is one of the areas where Bitcoin donations are such a game changer, as there are no transaction fees involved for the recipient.
