Coinbase Purchased Neutrino for $13.5 M, Acquisition Contract Shows
Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase purchased controversial Italian software services provider Neutrino for $ 13.5 million (€12 million), a copy of a legal document dated February 15, 2019, and shared with Bitcoin Magazine reveals. The hard numbers of the acquisition were previously unknown.
The document leak comes after a week of turbulent developments following the February 19 acquisition. Community members, namely Block Digest podcast member Janine, began to raise ethical concerns stemming from the company’s shared past with Hacking Team, an Italian, man-in-the-middle software provider whose malware and spyware has been linked to human rights and privacy abuses around the globe.

Bitstamp Confirms Acquisition by South Korean Company
Bitstamp has confirmed that it has been acquired by a European subsidiary of a South Korean corporation. Nejc Kodrič will remain the CEO of the exchange. The Korean group also owns gaming giant Nexon and Korbit, the country’s fourth largest crypto exchange.

Binance has made its first-ever acquisition, snapping up a crypto wallet provider. Trust Wallet is a mobile Ethereum wallet that supports ERC20, ERC223 and ERC721 tokens. The acquisition is proof of the importance of secure wallet technology to the exchange, Binance stated in a press release. The Trust Wallet team will retain its autonomy and will continue to develop the crypto wallet’s services, with Binance assisting in some non-technical areas such as marketing. While the details of the deal were not made public, reports indicate that the acquisition was made through cash, the exchange’s BNB token, and Binance stock.

Facebook Reverses Cryptocurrency Ad Ban Amidst Rumors of a Coinbase Acquisition
Facebook has reversed its blanket ban on cryptocurrency ads and will now allow pre-approved crypto businesses to advertise. However, ICOs and binary options will still be prohibited from the platform.
In a published blog post, Facebook Product Management Director Rob Leathern said the company has refined the policy and will now “allow ads that promote cryptocurrency and related content from pre-approved advertisers.”
Facebook’s January ban on cryptocurrency ads stemmed from ICO scams and the lack of regulation in the space at the time. The company was heavily criticized for the broadness of its ban which it justified by saying it was “intentionally broad while we work to better detect deceptive and misleading advertising practices.”
