Bitcoin Amsterdam was a popular event in a symbolic city.

For a long time the European Bitcoin community had hoped for an inclusive event that addressed Bitcoin without scaring off newcomers. Euronext Amsterdam To Launch Its First Spot Bitcoin ETF

The Jacobi Bitcoin ETF will be the first spot bitcoin ETF offered on the Euronext Amsterdam exchange for institutional European investors.

  • The Jacobi Bitcoin ETF will be Europe’s first spot bitcoin ETF listed on the Euronext Amsterdam exchange.
  • The ETF will have a 1.5% annual management fee.
  • Fidelity Digital Assets will serve as the custodian for Jacobi’s bitcoin while Flow Traders and DRW will facilitate as market makers.

Jacobi Asset Management is launching the first spot bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) in Europe through Euronext Amsterdam, the largest exchange to host a spot bitcoin ETF, according to a report from Reuters.  Read more...

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport Installs Europe’s First Airport Bitcoin ATM

The world’s eleventh-busiest airport has installed a “test” Bitcoin ATM in a move officials say will better “serve” travellers’ needs.

Schiphol Offers Bitcoin, Ethereum

In a press release on its website June 20, Amsterdam Schiphol Airport confirmed the installation of the machine, which will offer both Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Schiphol thus becomes the first European airport to offer cryptocurrency exchange options via an ATM.

“With the Bitcoin machine we hope to serve travelers because they can easily exchange ‘local’ euros for the ‘global’ Bitcoin or Ethereum,” Tanja Dik, director of consumer products and services commented.  Read more...

British Man in Amsterdam Allegedly Laundered €11.5m in Bitcoin Drug Money

A UK man living in Amsterdam is facing up to five years in prison for allegedly helping people by exchanging fiat cash for bitcoin which was used to buy drugs. He supposedly started by growing cannabis himself but soon found the bitcoin business to be more profitable by itself.

BitPay Opens Larger Amsterdam Office, Sees Explosive 1900% Growth in European Bitcoin Acceptance.

AMSTERDAM – September 8, 2014 — BitPay, the world leader in business solutions for the bitcoin digital currency, is moving to a larger office to meet the explosive increase in demand. Over the last three months, more than 2,500 merchants have signed up with BitPay bringing the number of European merchants to over 11,000.

BitPay’s new European headquarters is located at Herengracht 458 in Amsterdam’s Golden Bend. The 17th century building complex was formerly the seat of power for the Deutsche Bank and similar trust and banking companies.  Read more...
