Genesis-Mining : Vote For Coins To Be Added , More Features Announced

Today is an opportune time to check back in with the Genesis-Mining team. As I’ve mentioned in my interview with Jan from Genesis-Mining , conducted at Bitcoin 2014 in Amsterdam last week, there were changes coming, such as new coins.

And the team delivered on that promise, by adding a few new coins to their repertoire already. AuroraCoin, LottoCoin and FeatherCoin have been added to the list of mineable coins at Genesis-Mining.

We mentioned before that users would be able to cast their vote on which coin they wanted to see added next. This vote is currently underway on Facebook (link below this article), and the contestants are : MegaCoin, WorldCoin, AsiaCoin, AnonCoin and PotCoin.  Read more...

AUR, FLT, HIRO Make An Overnight Comeback on Exchanges

AuroraCoin is making a small comeback it seems! Even though the price is still very, very low, after everyone who received their coins dumped them, by the looks of it. AuroraCoin gained 14.3% of it’s value in the past 24 hours.  Read more...

Country-Specific Crypto Currencies : Failure 101

We have had several new crypto currencies designed in order to help a specific country out. AuroraCoin (Iceland), SpainCoin, GermanyCoin , NigeriaCoin,….

I can see why the idea behind it could be good, if it was actually viable. There is no country in the world which will simply say “Oh, sure give our people free money they don’t pay taxes on”. It just doesn’t work like that.

Don’t get me wrong, I understand a lot of countries could use a financial injection of some sorts. But that’s not what crypto currency is designed for, at least not in the way these coins have promoted themselves.  Read more...

SpainCoin – The New AuroraCoin Clone

It looks like Spaincoin is the new hype for the coming days. A lot of people are drawing parallels between SpainCoin and AuroraCoin, which is kind of normal.

SpainCoin basically took the idea of AuroraCoin, but changed the country to which the 50% pre-mine will be distributed.

As was the case with AuroraCoin, SpainCoin is also suffering from the “horribly unreliable mining pools” syndrome, as a lot of the pools  claim to have “DDoS” issues.

Between you and me, these pools are most likely hosted on a crappy VPS and can’t handle the amount of connections through the Stratum protocol.  Read more...

Bitcoin and AuroraCoin On The Rise Again

It’s been an interesting past 24 hours for the cryptocurrency world. We have seen Bitcoin rise back to about 675 USD for the first time in weeks.

However, the biggest surprise might have been when I woke up 3 hours ago and looked at the price of AuroraCoin. It took me a while to make sure I wasn’t dreaming.

Currently, AuroraCoin is valued at roughly 0,13 Bitcoin each. Some of you might say that is way overpriced, while others could deem it as “undervalued”.

You have to keep in mind that, even though statistics might declare otherwise, there are only a few thousand AuroraCoin in circulation.  Read more...

AuroraCoin – The Next, Better Bitcoin?

If you haven’t been paying attention to AuroraCoin, you might want to start right now. This might be the biggest and most ingenious cryptocurrency to date.

AuroraCoin is a 50% pre-mined cryptocurrency. This pre-mine will be distributed evenly among all citizens of Iceland, thus creating a country wide cryptocurrency.

Why Iceland, you might ask? Iceland has been hit the hardest by the economical crisis, inflation, and most notable of all, the collapse of the entire Icelandic banking system in 2008.
