At Coinsummit , we spoke at length with Dolf Diederichsen from Bit4coin. Bit4coin was featured in the startup showcase at CoinSummit. The business model is sound; offer Bitcoin to the public who can buy Bitcoin with fiat currency (Euro/dollar/whatever). This process will also generate an awareness with the general public and maybe even get them excited about Bitcoin.

Bitpesa is focussing on the African market, in particular on Kenyan customers. Bitpesa saw an opportunity for the use of Bitcoin, since the money sending services claim up to 1.2 billion dollars in fees annually.
The reason why the fees are so high in Africa, and Kenya in particular, is because the current money transfer systems have little to no competition. That is one of the causes why the transaction fees are so ridiculously high (between the 10-28%)
