Coinbase Card Expands Across Europe
San Francisco-based cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has announced that it is expanding its Visa debit card service in six new European countries. Coinbase Card, which was launched in the U.K. in April, will now be made available to customers in Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Ireland, and the Netherlands. The service enables account holders from the supported countries to spend their crypto balances in a familiar way to anyone with a debit or credit card.

Coinbase CEO Teases Launch of Debit Card in the U.S.
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has announced that the company is working on introducing its debit card to customers in the U.S.
Armstrong’s announcement came in a live AMA session on YouTube on May 16, 2019, during which he fielded questions and touched on various topics such as community trust ratings for altcoins and fraud prevention. While he did confirm that the debit card is coming to U.S. customers, he didn't divulge a specific release date.
Last month, Coinbase launched the Coinbase Card, a Visa-based debit card which, according to the exchange, allows customers to make purchases online and in-store using their crypto balances.
Cashaa Now Accepts Debit, Credit Cards for Crypto Purchases
Online banking platform Cashaa is set to allow users to purchase bitcoin, ether and Cashaa’s own token, CAS, using major credit and debit cards.
This new service is a follow-up to the Business Banking Services Cashaa launched earlier in April 2019, which allows both individuals and private firms to open accounts with Cashaa and accept cryptocurrency payments. According to a company statement shared with Bitcoin Magazine, the service will be available to users all over the world, excluding the U.S.
Coinbase Introduces Debit Card Linked to Cryptocurrency Balances for U.K. Customers
Major U.S.-based crypto platform Coinbase has launched the Coinbase Card, a debit card that lets U.K. customers make purchases online and in-store using cryptocurrency.
The new card will link the customers' crypto balances held on the Coinbase platform with their debit cards — converting crypto holdings into fiat currencies to complete each transaction.
The Coinbase card gives users the ability to make payments via "contactless, Chip and PIN, as well as cash withdrawals from ATMs," an official press release from the exchange states.
The debit cards will be issued by Paysafe Financial Services Limited, a U.K.-based financial services firm regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Bitcoin Core developer Jonas Schnelli has hit out at payment processor BitPay after it suddenly “deactivated” all its non-US debit cards.
Visa Wields Axe On Prepaid Cards
In a message to users, BitPay explained that its card issuer, Wave Crest, “received direction from (Visa) to immediately close all accounts of its prepaid (Visa) debit card programs,” of which its prepaid Bitcoin debit card was one.
A lack of notice meant the company had no choice but to immediately shut down spending from all its customers outside the US, BitPay claimed.
