As we announced late last week, a new X11 Proof-of-Stake cryptocurrency, called SummerCoin, would launch soon. Even though the original launch date of April 27th had issues, and the coin had to relaunch yesterday, April 28th, it does seem like everything is going smooth right now.
When the relaunch occurred yesterday, there was quite some confusion and chaos among the SummerCoin community. it seemed as if only one of the listed pools was finding blocks, and the rest weren’t finding anything at all, despite having more hashpower.
The release of FoxCoin has gone by pretty much unnoticed. That isn’t entirely abnormal, as it is very hard to spot a fox, and FoxCoin is no different.
FoxCoin is not just another animal-themed cryptocurrency, mind you. Even though it has several links to foxes , such as “pawrate” instead of “hashrate” , “digging” instead of “mining”, and “mining pools” are “digging ponds”.
Let’s start with some technical terms first. FoxCoin is based on the Scrypt algorithm, with a supply cap of 1 billion FoxCoin. Difficulty retargetting is handled well, because of the Kimoto Gravity Well implementation.
Recently, we have seen LeafCoin implementing a fix that would disallow multipools from mining the “easy” blocks, leaving the actual LeafCoin miners behind with a massive difficulty.
Unfortunately, that fix didn’t seem to work properly, but no worries! A new Leafcoin client has been released, which includes the famous “Kimoto Gravity Well”.
The updated LeafCoin client is currently only available for Windows and people who compile the wallet from GitHub. MacOSX users will have to wait a bit longer for their updated client.
If you are involved with Franko in any way, shape or form, you will need to update your Franko client to version 0.8.5.3 as soon as possible.
The new updated client included the “Kimoto Gravity Well” fix, to counter the effect multipools can have on a coin.
The “Kimoto Gravity Well” will kick in after block 400,000, which happens in approximately 3 days.
