It has been a while since we last talked about Viacoin on CryptoArticles, but we will be keeping a closer eye on things from now on. By saying that, I don’t mean there was nothing important happening to Viacoin, but I just couldn’t keep up with everything on my own. Now that I have a bit of a gap in my real life schedules, we can talk about the recent mandatory client update.
A few days ago, before all of the Christmas madness and family reunions began, a new Viacoin Core client was released. Version 0.10.6.3 added some interesting features to the table, such as Auxiliary Proof-of-Work to allow for merged mining, and the implementation of CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY.
One of the coins we have been paying a lot of attention to over the past month or so is Syscoin. Not just because of their development progress, but also the community involvement, and unfortunately also the legal battle. So how is Syscoin doing since its inception? Are they meeting expectations? Let’s take a look!
When Syscoin was created by the developers, they had several requirements in mind which had to met in a certain period of time. In order to do so, the team decided to leverage existing proven code as much as possible, instead of doing a complete development from scratch. Do keep in mind this is just for the basic Syscoin code, and not the features which have been developed, and are still under development, ever since.
Genesis Mining, one of the top brands in the cryptocurrency cloud mining space, is once again offering Scrypt cloud mining contracts to their customers. Due to overwhelming demand, these contracts were unavailable for a time, but this matter has been resolved. If you are interesting in buying a Genesis Mining Scrypt cloud mining contract, you might want to make up your mind soon though, as there are certain limits in place.
The long awaited Digitalcoin V3 is upon us ladies and gentlemen, and it brings a lot of changes to this digital currency. Multiple mining algorithms are supported as of this release, new features have been added to the client, and a hard fork will be occurring. Time to take a look!
The hard fork on the Digitalcoin blockchain has to do with the support for multiple mining algorithms. Once block 1,028,000 is reached, miners can choose to mine using Scrypt (as it is right now), SHA or X11. In order to switch to one of the newly supported algorithms, make sure to edit your Digitalcoin.conf file as instructed here.
The popular Bitcoin documentary “The Rise and Rise of Bitcoin” has been out for a few weeks now, and it looks like we see more and more screenings popping up all over the world. In this case, Genesis Mining will be hosting the very first public screening of the documentary.
It is interesting to see how all kinds of different companies and services respond to the “The Rise and Rise of Bitcoin” documentary. Even though it is impossible to cover all angles regarding Bitcoin in a documentary, there is some valuable information in regards to the mining aspect of Bitcoin to be found.
Cryptocurrency mining is a new, growing trend, but the task can be difficult. With technology constantly changing, it is important to keep up with the developments to mine effectively. Mining can be profitable, however, it is difficult to find an effective way to do so. Plutus Miners is a new website that will be launching on 10/27/2014.
Plutus Miners offers the public innovative cryptocurrency mining solutions. They stay on the cutting edge to make sure they are ahead of the competition and follow the latest trends. Plutus Miners features a modular design system that will offer ASIC mining hardware, including Scrypt ASIC miners, as well as make and sell their own miners.
Another update from our zenMINER experiment, which I know not too many people are looking forward to, but we do it anyway! Earnings are a bit higher than yesterday, but then again, the Bitcoin price recovered a bit as well.
Over the past 24 hours, we managed to earn a total of 0.00491397 Bitcoin once we subtracted the maintenance fees. A nice thing about the fees is that when the Bitcoin price seems to recover, we pay slightly less in BTC too as the fees are billed in a fixed USD amount. Not bad at all!
Time for our daily update on zenMINER! The payouts were a bit later than normal today it seemed, but we did get a nice bar at the top saying “payouts are running”, which most likely put a lot of customers at ease.
This marks day 3 of our zenMINER Hashlet mining contract, and so far, things are still looking good. Maintenance fees are holding steady at 0.00209680 Bitcoin for 10 MH/s of Scrypt cloud hashing power. Even though this is stated in the agreement, it never hurts to double check, right?
After we posted our zenMINER update yesterday afternoon, some people felt like we didn’t do a good job. Apparently it is customary for zenMINER to pay out only 12 hours of mining (or less) on day one. A lesson learnt, but I doubt most new zenMINER customers would know that, so it’s a valuable experience for all of us.
Either way, another payment was sent out today, so let’s see how things are looking after a full payout of mining with 10 MH/s. I’m definitely pleased with the increased earnings and the massively shortened ROI period compared to yesterday’s calculations.
As I mentioned yesterday in our zenMINER article, we would provide our readers with an update after the first 2 hours of mining has passed. So far, I’m rather pleased with the results, but we’ll take a look at the numbers before we make our final judgement!
In our article yesterday, I mentioned we bought 10MH/s of Scrypt cloud mining power for the price of roughly 0.5 Bitcoin at that moment in time. Even though we only paid US$210, half a Bitcoin had to spent because of the low BTC price at this moment in time.
HONG KONG, CHINA — SEPTEMBER 26, 2014 — Rhino Labs, a registered Hong Kong Technology company, has announced the launch of their new Custom built ASIC Mining Rig called the RL-M5.
Design for this custom built mining machine started in September, 2013 after a client of the company commissioned a very powerful mining rig with very specific requirements. From this project, the RL-M5 was born. The RL-M5 has the following specifications:
I have received a very interesting email from ZeusMiner earlier today. As you are aware, ZeusMiner is a company which creates and sells Scrypt ASIC miners. But they are also branching out into cloud mining, both for Scrypt and Bitcoin, through their ZeusHash platform.
Even though the ZeusHash platform is not officially launched yet, there will be a private beta to which I will most likely have access. This closed beta is starting on September 27th, and limited spots are still available.
In order to be eligible for participating in the ZeusHash beta test , follow these instructions :
Even though I wasn’t too convinced about LitecoinDark when it first launched, I do feel it is time we take a closer look at this altcoin. They have released a new development roadmap, achieved a 5+ Proof of Developer rating, and much more. Here we go!
The main reason why I didn’t think highly of LitecoinDark in the beginning, was simply because of it’s name, and the fact it was released shortly after BitcoinDark. It just sounded a bit too convenient and sketchy to me, so I gave the coin some time to develop further and see where it went.
If you read our previous DigitalCoin article, which you can find here, you may remember the DigitalCoin Foundation would take over development of DGC. Two days ago, they posted the upcoming changes, so let’s take a look!
Some massive changes are coming to DigitalCoin. First of all, the DigitalCoin Foundation will remove the Scrypt-only mining algorithm in favor of a multi-algorithm solution. From what we know at this point in time, the supporter mining algorithms will be Scrypt, SHA-256 and X11. More importantly, the rate of daily produced DGC will drop by 66%!
I was asked by a few people to do an article on a recently released altcoin called ShadeCoin. Sometimes you wonder how many more synonyms for “hidden” or “anonymous” we can use to name a coin, but that’s besides the point. Let’s take a look at what this cryptocurrency brings to the table.
ShadeCoin is a good old-fashioned Scrypt cryptocurrency, which makes it a bit rare in that regard these days. Considering this coin launched a little over a week ago, so there is still a lot of development to be done. The launch did go smooth though, and there are some nice features included in the wallet.
My attention was brought to a very new altcoin, called MidasCoin. After seeing an immense response from the mining community, and by offering an interesting mining algorithm, I do think it’s worth talking about. Care to find out more?
It doesn’t happen too often where a new cryptocurrency is introduced, and there are a lot of impressive services available at or shortly after launch. I’m not talking about third party services either, but services built by the team before launching their coin.
For our next article of the day, I want to tell our fine readers about some important updates in regards to Genesis Mining’s contracts. More contracts have been added, which is never a bad thing, especially not if they can be used to mine Bitcoin!
Genesis Mining offers Scrypt cloud mining contracts since day one. Because of their sharp pricing without any additional fees and costs, and their presence at several Bitcoin events over the past few months, they have become a household name.
The SysCoin developers have released a mandatory client update yesterday, so we should take a look at what has changed. A small update in regards to merged mining has been provided as well, so we’ll talk about that too.
The mandatory SysCoin client updates the version number to 0.1.4, and can be downloaded for all platforms by clicking here. There are two major enhancements in this update : merged mining with any Scrypt altcoin, and regenerated service fees for miners.
