It looks like Utilitycoin is (currently) under new management. The UTIL developer has hit a rough patch and as a result, he has gone quiet over the past week or so. As the Utilitycoin team badly needed someone to step in and manage the coin, Dan Metcalf took it upon himself to offer a helping hand.
There is some clarification in order before we go on though : Dan Metcalf is NOT taking over Utilitycoin development. He is merely managing the coin and finishing some of their completed and partial code which is to be implemented in the near future.
Dan will also inspect Utilitycoin’s anonymity system , and once approved, implement it in the coin itself. A lot people have been asking the question why Dan Metcalf is helping out this coin, and why the BlockNet team is so supportive of his decision.
First of all, Utilitycoin is one of the handful of altcoins making up the BlockNet project. As UTIL offers some technology that is extremely valuable to the BlockNet team, it’s only normal the team will do everything they can to support these coins.
Secondly, what would be the point in letting Utiltycoin stall and die? There is a strong community behind this coin, the technology is seeing great success, and there are a lot more features on the horizon. It would be a shame letting that hard work go to waste.
