To start off this beautiful sunny day, I want to talk to you folks about ZeusMiner. As you may know, ZeusMiner is an Asian company selling Scrypt ASIC miners. They have a new product up for pre-order right now, which is what this article will be all about.
But first, we need to do a little historical overview of ZeusMiner’s products to date. Let’s go back to March 2014, when ZeusMiner announced their first batch (generation) of Scrypt ASIC mining devices, of which I own one. (a 1.3 MH/s Blizzard)
Shipping of the first generation of devices took place during May and June of 2014, and hardware was delivered to mining enthusiasts in no less than 77 different countries. Worth noting is it only took ZeusMiner three weeks to ship out all thousands of pre-orders.
Even though the first generation was a great success, the ZeusMiner team kept their R&D going in order to create even better mining hardware. Because of the energy usage being a lot higher than originally anticipated, the team felt they could improve on this front.
And so they did, by releasing their second generation of miners (the X6 series), which cut down energy consumption by as much as 40%. Not only that, but the ZeusMiner team also increased the effective hash rate of all of their devices. THe best of both worlds when it comes to cryptocurrency/altcoin mining if you ask me.
So what more is there to be done? How about developing a new Scrypt ASIC miner and calling it “The Volcano”? This Scrypt ASIC miner will offer you 300 MH/s of hashing power, with an estimated energy consumption of only 1,000 Watts. A massive improvement compared to the ZeusMiner Lightning X6, which ran at 40 MH/s and a 960 Watt power consumption.
The reason behind achieving these massive technological advancements lies in the evolution of the ZeusChip. As it stands right now, every ZeusChip has the mining power of a Blizzard X3 Scrypt ASIC miner.
However, other improvements were made as well in other departments. The airflow of the ZeusMiner Scrypt ASICs has been drastically improved, and the noise these machines tend to make, is being kept relatively low. More details on these changes are expected soon.
I can see a lot of you thinking : “This device will require some major bankroll, right?” That’s what I thought as well, until I scrolled down to look at the price. I was baffled to be honest, as the ZeusMiner Volcano will cost no more than US$1 ,699.
Should you find yourself among the first 500 orders for this device, you will receive another US$100 off, lowering the price to US$1,599. An incredible deal if you ask me, a very sharp price with lots of mining power and low energy consumption….sounds good to me!
Delivery of the ZeusMiner Volcano is scheduled ( and guaranteed ) for the end of Q4 2014, which means you will probably see them pop up during the Christmas holidays. In the unfortunate event of ZeusMiner not being able to meet this deadline, they will provide a generous compensation :
“We will give you ONE EXTRA VOLCANO (or equivalent of 300Mh/s hashing power) if:
1) Start of the shipment is delayed for more than 1 month; or
2) Power consumption is 50% higher than the promised by us (100% for TWO extra, 150% for THREE!)“
I’m not a person who prays for things to go wrong in any case, but receiving a second or even third miner is interesting, to say the least. I do hope all hardware will be shipped out on time though, as a happy customer is invaluable these days.
