It’s been a while since we had a potentially interesting CPU-coin that wasn’t either overly pre-mined, or just boring.
WikiCoin could bring a welcome change from that fact. Judging by the announcement post, WikiCoin aims to achieve the same as Wikipedia : a community-driven effort.
Based on Quark, WikiCoin offers the same algorithmic functions, which also means you can use any Quark mining software to mine WikiCoin.
With only a 0.5% premine, WikiCoin brings us a coin supply of 30,000,000, at a reward of 50 WIKI per block. Block rewards halve every 81,000 blocks.
The name WikiCoin could garner a lot of interest for this coin. If Wikipedia ever decides to accepts WikICoin payments, they might see an influx in donations, which would be good press for cryptocurrency in general.
