Yesterday, I noticed that a new company has announced a very powerful Scrypt ASIC miner. The company I’m talking about has the cool name of “ZeusMiner”. Let’s see what makes their miner so special, and why you should(n’t) pre-order one.
I’m not a big fan of companies claiming to sell ASIC miners, and the only option is to pre-order them. Luckily for me, ZeusMiner actually has some images of the products on their website, so that does reassure me a bit.
Maybe it all started with ButterFly Labs not being able to delivery on time, while KnC has been rather decent with delivery times of their previous models. Then again, I still don’t trust Alpha-T either until I’ve seen the actual miner in front of me, working.
I’m not saying ZeusMiner is a scam either, don’t think that. I just have a hard time putting trust in someone with money that can’t be refunded (when paying with Bitcoin or LiteCoin). But I ordered one anyway, because I want one!
So what products are they offering? There are quite a few products they are planning to sell pretty soon, and I must say, they do look interesting.
The one I’m most interested in, and also the one which I actually did pre-order just right now in order to write this article, is called “Blizzard”. Running at 1.2 MH/second and 15W for 250$ including shipping to Belgium (5% discount for paying with Bitcoin) isn’t bad at all. Cheaper than additional GPU’s, that’s for sure!
If you have slightly deeper pockets, you can choose for the “Cyclone” (18 mh/s,240W, $2,999), the “Thunder” (36 MH/s, 480W, $5,500) or the “Lightning” (72MH/s, 960W,$9,999). Prices are very competitive to say the least, so that’s a plus.
Shipping of all four products is expected to begin on May 31st at the latest. Quick calculations will show you that’s in five and a half weeks from now. I’m curious to see whether or not they will be able to deliver on that promise.
Bitcoin payments are handled through BTCMerch, and not BitPay, which is an interesting change from what I’m used to. This goes to show that there is still a big market out there for anyone who can offer professional Bitcoin payment handling.
If you were to order one of these product right now, you will get a 100% bonus hash through ZeusHash.com, which is their cloud mining “arm”. If you were to order a “Lightning”, you get 72 MH/s in-house, and an additional 72 MH/s through cloud mining.
Check out the ZeusMiner website for more information!
