I have received a fair amount of requests to do an article about EuropeCoin, so I guess I’d better do it. Not as soon as everyone would have hoped probably, but I’m quite a busy person lately, so better late than never!
So what is EuropeCoin, you ask yourself? EuropeCoin is a X11 Proof-of-Stake/Proof-of-Work hybrid with some interesting features built in to the client. There’s also a 1% pre-mine, which shouldn’t bother anyone really.
Said pre-mine is used for IPO quotes, airdrop and bounties, as well as development , support and maintenance, etc. EuropeCoin didn’t just have any regular IPO though, but it was more of a stabilization fund.
This stabilization fund will be used for the health and growth of EuropeCoin. Look at it as a warranty against mass dumpers and market manipulations. It will also be used for paid votes on some of the more popular exchanges. More information can be found here.
There will be a total amount of 384,000,000 ERC, of which 137,632,000 coins will be generated during the Proof-of-Work stage. The rest will be generated through staking, at a variable interest rate, depending on which week we’re in. After week 4, it will remain 1% annually.
The Proof-of-Work stage of EuropeCoin will only last for two weeks, with block rewards increasing from 100 to 1,000 to 10,000 ERC per block in week one, and a fixed reward of 5,000 ERC per block in week two.
As I mentioned, EuropeCoin also has interesting features, one of which is Coin Control. Coin control allows users to use a single wallet, and decide which address you want to send a transaction from, so no more need for multiple wallets with multiple addresses.
For the near and far future, EuropeCoin has some plans in place. In order to make this a usable cryptocurrency, we will see services developed by the time the Proof-of-Stake phase is set to begin.
A multipool for EuropeCoin should be ready by the 4th week of Proof-of-Stake, which is a bit later than you’d expect, but that might not be a bad thing. We should also see EuropeCoin on more exchanges, as it’s currently listed on BitTrex and Europex.
