This is the first of quite a few articles to come while I’m here in Amsterdam for Bitcoin 2014. I just wanted to share my first impressions with you guys before the actual events takes place tomorrow and the day after.
Having only been to Amsterdam once before, and it was for on the other side of town that time might I add, it’s not easy to find your destination here, Even though I had printed Google Maps directions before I left, because I was that smart at least.
As soon as you exit Amsterdam Central Station, I had to take a left turn and keep heading that way to get to my hotel. Thank you Google! The directions themselves are spot on, but they don’t account for road constructions or anything like that unfortunately.
The same goes reaching the Passenger Terminal here in Amsterdam, where the actual Bitcoin 2014 event is taking place. Directions are good, but road construction is in the way once again. Eventually, we found it though.
I do say we, as I was joined by Robin (UK) and Rob (NL, also known as Soepkip). Both of these fine gentlemen helped me find my hotel, because I’m a klutz, and we ventured to the Passenger Terminal together, to get our lanyards and ID badges.
Speaking of these lanyards, they are extremely pretty. You could pick a black or yellow one, so I got a yellow one. I like yellow by the way, did you know? Either way, we got those sorted fairly quickly, so we’re all set for tomorrow.
We also did a quick tour of the stands and brands represented, such as CoinKite, BitPay, Butterfly Labs, HardBTC (awesome stuff by the way!) , NXT, Ripple ,and others. More exploring will be done tomorrow during the breaks and such.
No pictures yet, but I’ll try and take some tomorrow. Bitcoin 2014 will be amazing and great fun, I can tell you that much. Lots more to come tomorrow, but I can’t tell you at what time yet I’m afraid. Probably in the evening I guess.
