The past few days have been rough and turbulent for anyone involved with AsiaCoin. After finding out there will a lot more coins in existence than there should be (click here), and the announcement of creating AsiaCoin V2 (click here), it seems things have gotten even worse.
To put it mildly and bluntly at the same time : the idea of launching AsiaCoin V2 was stupid to begin with in the first place. Stupid in the sense of “people aren’t going to trust anything remotely related to AsiaCoin anymore”.
Apparently, the people who had originally planned to launch this “version 2”, also saw the light of day, as the entire project has been cancelled. The AsiaCoin community wasn’t too happy with the idea either, from what we can gather.
So what is the plan now for AsiaCoin? Plenty of people still want to see the old source files fixed and patched, but who knows what else they might find in there? Another massive amount of “hidden” coins perhaps?
You also have to take into account that you will be held accountable for other people’s money if you take control of such a project. And, well, it pretty much comes down to the fact that it’s just not worth the time and effort, as AsiaCoin is dead.
But apparently a team is currently working on patching and fixing the original AsiaCoin source code, so we’ll see what happens with it. A new logo has been designed as well, which looks rather nice, I might add.
Once the AsiaCoin source code has been fixed, both Cryptsy and Bter will re-list AsiaCoin as a trading pair. An interesting decision, but I’m not sure enough people will care to create any sort of trading volume.
We will keep you updated as this story develops further.
