that's the glitch in these systems.They are only as honest as the developer. Who audits the developers and Relizing how easily hidden these loopholes places the whole industry at risk. Expect more digital time bombs.

Is Dash Instant Send a trustless function?
Remember what happened to LTC. When it went through the same process trying to adopt segwit, as it was about to be locked in the price peaked and as a result, a bunch of miners dropped their support for it to cause the price to drop so that they could make profit.
Also, in lots of other object-oriented programming languages, the default access modifier is public, so it's not just Solidity. Though, since Solidity is often used for storing/moving money, perhaps the default should be private, like you suggested.
Another thing is, the "hackers" who stole the funds weren't even using an exploit to do so. They were using the system as it was designed. Exploiting/hacking usually involves some level of complexity, but the initwallet function, which was the unprotected method, could be used directly by anyone with an Ethereum wallet.

Storj is the wrong horse in a two horse race with Sia. Their ability to move from one blockchain to another just highlights how their solution isn't blockchain based. Sia has a cryptocurrency, siacoin, baked into the heart of the code. It wasn't long ago their marketcap was neck and neck, a few weeks later and Sia is worth 3 x Storj and rising.
