Bitcoin is slowly making its appearance on the big screen, with several documentaries being produced and released. The most well-known one is “The Rise and Rise of Bitcoin” , which is now available through video-on-demand. The BitFilm festival is having a special “Bitcoin Movies” showcase this year, taking place in four separate locations.
2014 Marks the 14th edition of the BitFilm festival, which showcases films using digital technology in a creative and innovative way. Some of their presentations have included the best 3D and 2D animations, as well as Machinima films.
With the BitFilm festival taking place in major cities such as Paris, Barcelona, Tel Aviv , Tokyo and New York, you can see this is a quite successful and popular festival. Luckily for us Bitcoin enthusiasts, the digital currency will be the focal point of this year’s festival, which will take place in Berlin, Seoul , Buenos Aires & Rio de Janeiro.
From what we can gather, there will be a screening of “The Rise and Rise of Bitcoin” during Bitfilm Festival 2014. Another documentary confirmed to be on the list is “Bitcoin in Kenya” , a 15-minute feature by Tomer Kantor. I was fortunate enough to see a trailer of “Bitcoin in Kenya” while attending Bitcoin Conference 2014 in Amsterdam earlier this year.
Animated short films on Bitcoin will be shown as well, but no further details have been made available at this point. What we do know is these short films will explain different aspects of the Bitcoin economy and culture.
Entrance to the BitFilm festival 2014 is 0.03 Bitcoin, although you can also pay in “trash cash”, which means fiat currencies are accepted at the door as well.
What might be even better than the Bitfilm Festival 2014 focusing on Bitcoin, is the fact this festival has their very own BitFilm Coin. This is not another new digital currency however, but rather a way to support and promote the festival itself.
Buy buying 1 BitFilm Coin, priced at 50 mBTC, customers will receive a free festival pass to a location of their choice. On top of that, you will also receive a Robot Girl T-shirt, 3 votes on which of the nominated films will receive the BitFilm Award, and a 20% discount on future events. Other rewards available as well when purchasing multiple BitFilm Coins. You can find out more information by clicking here.
We at CryptoArticles will try to attend the Berlin event, as it has definitely piqued our interest!
