If you have been an avid reader of our articles for a while now, you may remember us mentioning a service called BitSMS. This platform allows you to send anonymous SMS messages worldwide in exchange for Bitcoin, DarkCoin or GuldenCoin.
One of the main reasons why I like the potential of BitSMS platform, is because you can send messages to any cellphone in the entire world. Also, you don’t need to register an account in order to use the service, hence the anonymous part.
The only downside is the pricing though. Sending an SMS to any country in the world would cost a flat rate of 29 Eurocents, which is quite expensive if you ask me. The BitSMS folks realized this would put off a lot of people, so they made some changes!
First of all, they dropped the price per SMS significantly. By shaving off 8 eurocents to send a message worldwide, they reduced the price by over 25%. Even though 21 eurocents per SMS might still be expensive, it’s definitely a step in the right direction.
As of September 20th, a fourth coin will be accepted as a BitSMS payment method. As a result of their partnership with SterlingCoin, you will soon be able to pay for BitSMS using your SLG. It will be very interesting to see how this will affect the popularity of this service.
Further development for BitSMS is taking place as we speak. On top of the priority list is getting the mobile version of the website to work properly, so people can use BitSMS ont heir phones and tablets as well.
Some people have requested the option to send multiple SMS in one order. This feature is also being looked into by the BitSMS developers. One of the major upsides is that you only have to pay transactions fees once, instead of multiple times.
