There have been some interesting developments in regards to BlackCoin over the past few days. Not only did the BlackCoin/CoinKite deal finally kick off, but there is also an Android Wallet, and the website has been redesigned.
BlackCoin Android Wallet
I’m a huge fan of Cryptos who also offer an Android Wallet. There just is something about mobile payments that intrigues me. And it sure as hell beats that broken NFC technology which no one wants to adopt anyway.
The BlackCoin Android Wallet is currently in Alpha version, so you might experience some hiccups and bugs. If you do , please report them to the developer as soon as possible . So what does this Android Wallet offer?
First of all, you will have a full-fledged BlackCoin blockchain installed on your mobile device. As you probably know by now, downloading a full blockchain for most coins is a pain in the rear. The BlackCoin Android Wallet isn’t exactly fast either, but I’ve seen worse.
When starting up the BlackCoin Android Wallet for the very first time, I immediately got connected to 11 nodes, which kept increasing up to 16 nodes. While syncing, you will also get an overview of the total money supply, and the amount of blocks you downloaded so far.
Keep in mind that the speed at which you download the blocks will greatly depend on your internet speed, as well as the read/write speed of your mobile device’s storage. I do have a cheaper SD card in my phone, so that might explain the slowness I guess.
The BlackCoin website has also undergone some graphical updates. The official homepage text now reads : “BlackCoin – Currency of the Future”. The whole website looks and feels a lot more slick though, I really like this new design.
Make sure to check out the official BlackCoin website.
BlackCoin & CoinKite
As we have mentioned a few times before, as of June 1st, the BlackCoin/CoinKite partnership started. As a result of this, BlackCoin would be a supported Crypto on CoinKite’s Point-of-Sale terminals.
This will speed up the adoption rate of BlackCoin by both merchants and consumers, as it will be usable to buy real life goods with BC. Plans are already in the works to get CoinKite terminals to as many shops in the UK as possible. And that’s only the beginning.
