As these past fe days in the world of digital currency and altcoins have been extremely hectic for most of us, you might have missed the Boomcoin announcement which was made a few days ago. A new wallet has been released, and users need to swap their old coins for new coins. Mining has also been re-enabled for 30 days. Let’s take a look!
It had been announced by the Cleverhash team, who are the creators of Boomcoin, that a new wallet would be released on November 1st. There are several changes integrated into this new Boomcoin client, and users will have to swap over their old coins to the new coins as well.
Coin Swapping
The reasoning behind the need for swapping old coins to new coins is because the new Boomcoin wallet has been rebuilt with the Cleverhash-QT Foundation. This is just the first step in the multi-wallet plan with HASH tokens.
As a result of this change in the code, a coin swap will be performed in collaboration with the Bittrex exchange. All coins that are stored in Bittrex exchange wallets will be swapped automatically, and require no further actions from the users themselves.
For those users who have Boomcoin in the old wallet on their computer, your coins need to be sent to Cleverhash who will perform the swapping procedure for you. Once the coins are received by Cleverhash, the new coins will be sent to your new Boomcoin client’s address.
As there are users who will find out about this necessary swap a few days or weeks from now, Cleverhash will perform this swapping service for 30 days, until December 1st 2014. After that date, the old Boomcoin wallet will be erased and everyone should be on the new platform.
Coordinating the swapping of coins through Cleverhash can be done via a PM to BoomCoinDev on the BitcoinTalk forums. Everyone will receive a unique deposit address. Here is the direct link to BoomCoinDev’ sprofile, so you send him the PM.
Changes in regards to block times, block rewards and mining
Perhaps the biggest and most interesting change coming along with this new BOOM client is the fact mining has been re-enabled for 30 days. The original post in the Boomcoin thread on Bitcointalk has been updated with a list of available mining pools .
The BOOM block time has also been changed to 1-minute blocks, and the block reward has been altered to 25 coins per block.
