It has been very rough going for most of us in these times of crisis. However it is not only us that has suffered but also schools, more particularly music schools. The Dutch government has tightened its stance toward some smaller music schools.
In a surprising communiqué we received last night, one of our editors has met the head of the Muziek Academie Den Haag once, and they told us that:
“… because of the latest cuts in government support we will also accept Bitcoin as a viable alternative as payment for the lessons we will give in the coming year. We will be having an “opendeur dag”, where we will give out more information why we accept Bitcoin and give demonstrations at the 21st of June”…
“…Our main reason is that because of dwindling funding and the ongoing economic crisis we want to build up a diversification in our organization. As such there aren’t any laws in place that prohibit BTC as a payment method so we will use it to further fund our music academy here in Den Haag (The Hague in English)”.
We can only applaud this initiative from our Dutch neighbors and hope that more schools & companies will begin to use Bitcoin and other crypto to either fund their activities or accept Crypto as an alternative payment method.
