Over the course of the first year as CrytoArticles co-owners, we have had the privilege and pleasure to meet a lot of interesting people. As we kept in touch with all the people we met, some of them have even become friends. Tim Frost, co-founder of Coin Proz, is one of those friends, and he found room in his busy schedule to answer some of our questions.
Serge: Can you tell us a bit about yourself? How did you become involved with crypto currency?
Tim Frost: I was first attracted to bitcoin in early 2011 after hearing Max Keiser talk about it and seeing it on various forums. I was very intrigued and bought some bitcoin at that time. I like many was interested in making an easy profit and sold shortly after for a small profit. I continued to follow the digital currency and in December 2013 when I began to really research and really learn the potential of digital currencies and the blockchain technology. I have since become obsessed about the potential and the socio economic impact it can have on society.
Serge : Are there any current projects that you are working on?
Tim Frost: I co-founded my own project Coin Proz anticipating there would be millions of people flooding into cryptocurrency with the same passion as myself. We wanted to build a site that could encompass all the information in one site for users. As altcoins have continued to flood the market and most add little value to the ecosystem, we decided to change our model and focus on the projects that are bringing the true innovation into crypto. We have currently ran into development issues but plan on getting a new site up soon. Shannon Code our developer is currently working on getting a new coinproz.com
Recently I have became very fortunate to become involved with few great projects.
Providence a fintech 2.0 project through Ripple. It is a very large and innovative project to help to empower SME and Individuals financially. Jared Mimms is behind this project. There are multiple parts to the project including https://pier.exchange/ launching January 14th. You can be see more at the bitcoin talk thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=880164.0
Gems is a social messenger app that can introduce bitcoin tech to many new people. I feel Gems has developed the perfect model to introduce crypto to the average person in a way everyone understands. http://getgems.org/ There have been many projects to say they are “bringing bitcoin to the masses” but I feel GetGems has came up with the perfect model.
SpaceBIT, which will be revealed soon has planned on using the blockchain for a variety of space missions. Recently SpaceBIT has announced http://firstspacebank.com/ which will bring affordable banking capabilities to the “unbanked” population of the world. Other missions with using the blockchain and satellites systems will be coming in the future. This is a very ambitious project, with the most impressive team of professionals from around the world in their respective sectors.
Factom is another exciting project to help solve the problem of blockchain bloat. “Factom is a system for securing millions of realtime records in the blockchain with a single hash.” http://factom.org/ Factom is very well organized team that is on target to deliver a great product. The user cases with how they will be using the blockchain are incredible as seen here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYQ5icxGvmA Unlocking $9 Trillion in Land Value.
Serge: There is also a new app called GEMS that you helped establish. Can you tell our readers a bit about it? How does it work? Is it easy to use?
Tim Frost: I feel Gems is going to be a big part of bringing bitcoin to the general public. The model that has been created will bring bitcoin to many people outside the crypto ecosystem. Gems rewards the users for contributing to the network. The token has utility and value built into it. There are billions of smartphone users worldwide and Gems is already getting attention on all continents. Your can download the Android version now https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.getgemsmessenger.app&hl=en
Serge: What are your predictions for 2015?
Tim Frost: I am extremely optimistic for 2015. Now more people are realizing that the real innovation is in the technology and more are seeing the potential and the projects being built. 2015 can be the defining year for bitcoin and cryptocurrency. SpaceBIT, Providence, Gems, Factom, Ethereum, and many projects will lead the way. I feel that the last 6 years have set the table for the industry to move on past the price of bitcoin and concentrate more on the technology. I also believe by the end of 2015 tens of millions of people will be using the blockchain and cryptocurrency technology without even realizing it.
Serge: What do you think about altcoins? Are they going to continue or are they going to “die out” so that only a handful, like Darkcoin, Blackcoin, Litecoin and some others will remain?
Tim Frost: I feel many coins that will survive are the ones that have utility and innovation. There needs to be more than one coin and one blockchain. I am pro bitcoin but I also think another coin could eventually challenge it for #1. Tokens and coins with utility will survive and thrive like Darkcoin, Blackcoin, Gemz, Ether, Ripple, Storjcoin, and many others to come in 2015.
