IEnergyCoin n the thick of all these different alternate cryptocurrencies, it’s not hard to lose track of one or two Cryptos. Some of these even turn out to be “sleeper coins”, such as . Have you heard of it yet? No? Let’s explore!
Being launched on April 29th, EnergyCoin is nearly 2 months old today. Yet hardly anyone has heard of it for some reason, and not because of a lack of efforts from the ENRG community. So what makes EnergyCoin so special?
EnergyCoin is an energy saving coin, which is a small trend that we’ve seen with a handful of coins over the past few months. None of them seem to become successful however, but EnergyCoin has the potential to be an exception to the rule.
Not in the least because EnergyCoin is a Scrypt Proof-of-Work/Proof-of-Stake hybrid Crypto. You know, back in the days when X11 or X13 weren’t the flavor. Seems like ages ago, doesn’t it? Or maybe I’m just getting old.
But there is a twist to EnergyCoin, as there is no actual Proof-of-Work reward. All of the ENRG (110,000,000 coins) have been pre-mined, which have all been given away to BitcoinTalk members. Sounds like a very fair distribution to me, wouldn’t you say?
In the name of transparency, the EnergyCoin developer has released a spreadsheet, showing off most of the BitcoinTalk users who received coins. This list is still being updated as we speak, and can be found here :
Should you manage to get your hands on some EnergyCoin, either from exchanges or through giveaways, you will start earning stake after a minimum of 24 hours. Interest is variable, at the rate of 10% during year one, decreasing year after year until we reach 1%, which will be the minimum stake.
Exchanges-wise, you can trade EnergyCoin in plenty of places : UseCryptos, Coinano, BitTrex, C-Cex, EuroPex, Swaphole and Palth all have ENRG/BTC trading pairs listed. Rumour has it a bigger exchange might add EnergyCoin soon, but nothing has been made official yet.
There are currently two giveaways for EnergyCoin, one is hosted over at CryptoCoinTalk, and the other one can be found at AltcoinGiveAways. I myself have just been awarded 1,200 ENRG for participating in such a giveaway.
