Due to lack of any really interesting news, we will keep looking at some coins we haven’t talked about before. IcebergCoin is gaining popularity lately,so I think the time has come to see what this coin is all about!
IcebergCoin is the first ever PoW/PoS coin using the NIST5 mining algorithm. This is apparently an algorithm which cannot be mined by either FPGA or ASIC devices. There are also no multipools supporting this algorithm as of this writing.
NIST5 is a mix of Blake, Groestl, JH, Keccak and Skein. A big benefit of this algorithm is the fact it mining temperatures drop a lot, which is especially welcome during the summer. If you want to find out more about NIST5 , click here.
With a total money supply of only 10 million coins, of which 4,4 million coins are generated during Proof-of-Work over the span of 7 days, IcebergCoin will definitely get a lot of attention from the general Crypto community.
Because the developers didn’t want to see their coin getting instamined, they decided to hold an ICO, which was hosted by BitTrex. A total of 1,2 million coins were sold at the price of 0,00008 Bitcoin each. This means 19.2% of the total coin supply was sold to ICO investors.
Once IcebergCoin’s mining phase ended, the Proof-of-Stake phase begun. Users are earning stake interest at a rate of 4% annually. THe minimum stake age is 24 hours with no maximum stake age set. During PoS, a total of ~4.35 million ICB will be generated.
As far as future plans go for ICB, a lot of things could be done, but no official announcements are made yet. The developers don’t want to promise things just for the hype. Once new features are developed and tested, we will hear about them.

As far as exchanges for IcebergCoin go, it can be traded on both BitTrex & Cryptsy.
