So I was asked on Twitter the other day whether or not I wanted to do an article about JudgeCoin, as its mining phase is almost coming to a close. As we always like to look at new coins, here are my thoughts on JudgeCoin.
One of the things JudgeCoin has working in its favor from the start is the fact there is no IPO or pre-mine. There are also no parts of mined blocks going to some shady development fund or something similar. Sounds good so far.
With a fairly limited coin supply of 12.5 million coins (down from the original 15 million), JudgeCoin is checking some important boxes so far. Proof-of-stake will earn users 6% interest per annum.
What is a bit of a downer, is the current lack of services where you can actually use JudgeCoin. There is a dice game, which is great and all, but there is no real innovation (yet). That might change in the future though.
Once JudgeCoin’s Proof-of-Work stage is over, there is a multipool ready for you to mine on. As it stands right now, this multipool is just mining JudgeCoin itself and only supports the X13 algorithm. Once other coins are mineable, we might see more algorithms added.
As far as exchanges go, JudgeCoin can currently be traded at BitTrex and FobCoin.
JudgeCoin technical specifications :
– Total coins: Estimated 12,500,000 Between PoW and PoS blocks (Originally Estimated at 15,000,000)
– 500 Coins per PoW block
– PoW Algorithm: X13
– PoW + PoS Hybrid
– PoW Blocks: 38,640 (Changed from 43,200 due to PoS did not kick in and wanted to keep coin total same)
– PoS interest 6% Annually
– 24hr PoS min coin age
– 60 second block target
– 110 confirmations for blocks to mature
Overall, I’m a bit underwhelmed by the technical prowess and usability of JudgeCoin, as this is one of many coins which do not bring anything new to the table on launch. But we will keep an eye out for updates, and keep our readers informed accordingly!
