Our good friends over at Myriadcoin have released a mandatory wallet upgrade earlier today, which brings some interesting changes to the way blocks are found by each mining algorithm. Furthermore, there will be a hard fork, a weighting algorithm to determine the mining difficulty for all supported algorithms, and stealth addresses!
Myriad Hard Fork
One of the reasons why this Myriadcoin client upgrade is mandatory for all users and exchanges, is because there will be a hard fork at block 740,000. All involved parties are advised to upgrade as soon as possible, and download links can be found here.
Block finding changes to mining algorithms
The following change really intrigues me to be honest. As most of you are aware, Myriad supports multiple mining algorithms. Before this mandatory client upgrade, it was possible for one of the algorithms to find more than 6 blocks in a row on the network. With this upgrade, that will not be occurring again, which puts all mining algorithms back on an even playing field.
New weighting algorithm
One of the reasons why specific algorithms would find multiple blocks in a row because of their mining difficulty compared to other algorithms. A new weighting algorithm will go in effect, which combines weighting from all 5 algorithms to prevent one algorithm gaining an advantage over the others.
Stealth Addresses
Myriadcoin will offer their community members Stealth Addresses in this mandatory wallet upgrade. Stealth Addresses will allow users to set up a different one-time wallet address for specific transactions such as donations or a one-time payment.
