While I was looking forward to a day of writing articles without any dramatic situations taking place, I was treated to a rude awakening when my attention was brought to the bickering going on between some members of the ShadowCash and ZeroVert communities. ZeroVert has released their ZeroCoin implementation, which is the reason for some heated arguments.
Note from the author : I will do an in-depth ZeroVert article at some point next week, so I will not be going in to what each coins has to offer compared to the other. This is just a coverage of some drama and potentially interesting points being raised by both sides.
ZeroVert is a recently released altcoins working towards bringing a new anonymity solution to the world of cryptocurrency and altcoins. As there are several coins working towards the same goals, it’s always interesting to see how different developers try to come up with new and creative solutions.
Whereas the ShadowCash developers are working towards implementing Zero Knowledge Anonymity, the ZeroVert developers implemented ZeroCoin. Many community members’ interests were piqued as to how the ZeroVert developers went about on getting ZeroCoin to work properly.
Unfortunately for us, but understandably so, the ZeroVert developers are keeping their source code under wraps. As you would come to expect from the cryptocurrency community on BitcoinTalk, this is a cause for some outspoken reactions, some of which are getting a bit out of hand.
The term “vaporware” is being tossed around in the ZeroVert thread, by one of the ShadowCash community members. While I can see a valid point in saying this technology is untested and comes with its own set of flaws and issues, I do agree that using the term “vaporware’ is out of line, especially when you are not part of the community of the coin that is implementing a new feature.
There are also concerns in regards to the ZeroVert premine, as you can read here. After some good back and forth replies, the ShadowCash community member did offer his apologies for using strong language, as he is protective of Zero Knowledge tech.
Another cryptocurrency community member compares ZeroTech to ShadowCoin are saying that ZeroCoin implementation does help with traceability, but it doesn’t hide the amount per transactions and doesn’t prevent leakage from addresses either. This is one of the reasons why ShadowCash is not looking to implement ZeroCoin, but rather use ZeroCash.
TrangLee , who is part of the general cryptocurrency community, then threw a bit of oil on the fire by saying : “Longnshort, coolstoryteller, 00smurf, and other SDC trolls are in house full force now. Dev you must have really pissed in their cereal to get the king troll TrollsRoyce aka coolstoryteller in here. I warned you yesterday they will come and fud and troll. Sure as shitting here they are. “ This leads to some more thread cluttering, which can be found here.
What I really take offense to is when someone who is a SDC community members starts threatening other community members, like ItsNotMe did here : “zerovert – keep your shitheads off sdc board or this scam will not see the light of day. Your delete key will not keep up.”
Other “arguments” which really make my blood boil, include : “Don’t buy ZER, otherwise you will lose your money!” , as stated by ShadowCoin community member Zuyfg888 here. I would expect more professional reactions, certainly from Senior Members on BitcoinTalk.
Especially when these things get countered by ZeroVert community members, using names such as “faggot”, things will spiral out of control pretty fast. Both communities really need to set their members straight, as this behavior is hurting both sides.
I’m sure the ZeroCoin implementation will lead to much more discussions, which will hopefully take place in a professional manner, and not the way certain members of the SDC and ZeroVert communities are handling things right now.
