**On Today’s Episode Of The Cryptoverse:**
Mysterium is building a decentralised Virtual Private Network (VPN) that anyone can use to connect securely and anonymously to the internet. The system is also designed so that users who share their spare bandwidth to the network will be able to earn digital tokens in reward.

Amazing Podcast, I want to thank you as a founder of Mysterium for this great overview.
Just a couple of remarks:
1. Existing VPN providers will be welcome to join our network as providers, as they already have many thing sin place: a legal structure – that protects them from accusations by governments in case some bad behavior is detected, a hardware, a coverage based on location, etc.. All it needs – is their will to go – opensource.
It could even go a lot further. Lots of VPN brands could stop buying and placing their own servers, and just use Mysterium Network as their back-end, where they provide the frond-end, and Mysterium Network decentralized VPN providers – provide the backend. (hope that makes sense to you)
2. You ask what happens in that case if a bad site visit is being reported. Well now they are basically telling authorities: "Look this is a VPN service, we are not responsible for what is done, because it's our users". Can they say so without logging? That's a question for you, but that is their usual reply to authorities.
Any more questions – please don't hesitate, as I believe it's a new and somewhat weird concept for many of you, or just visit our website https://mysterium.network/
I appreciated the buddhist wisdom!
sounds like your anouncing the uk top 20 on top of the pops from back in the 90s
Did you end up investing in Mysterium?
Nothing attractive about myst.
I like very much the Mysterium concept. Surrounding regulation/law and potential illegal activity, any chance to add a user disclaimer ? So the VPN decentralized provider is out of any claim. A kind of best practice user agreement showing authority good faith … if I rent a car to rob a bank ? Example ! Is the car renter responsible for misconduct ?
Taas? Yay or Nay?
lol that's what she said is the greatest joke ever told.
Thanks Chris, for great info as usual i really like when you find good stuff, and VPN for crypto space is important… keep it up!
Yeah, I wouldn't even consider using that service. It's the same reason I don't use TOR. Some joker could be surfing up some really evil material and it could look like I my PC was doing it. Then the next thing I knew a bunch of swat thugs kick my door down, toss a flash bang into my room then drag my stunned ass off to jail.
And also thanks for your hard work
As far what I have seen so far, does not make sense at all – well, the scenario where End-User give VPN Bandwidth…
A lot of users still use (A)DSL lines. For VPN UPLOAD is vital and there is not enough Bandwidth most of the time, I recon.
Also for the legality argument: They would have to bundle their whole solution eg. with TOR and such.
IT STAYS a very GRAY area imo. With TOR you can do a lot of hiding and I am not entirely sure if it is possible to vanish a 100%.
Still leaves a moral question – you would never be able to tell if someone would be trying illegal things via a VPN route over your computer.
Me personally – would not do it. (my 2 ct)
I don't know. MYST the token, sounds too much like Myst the game. This sounds like another wait and see token.
Maidsafe has been working on the SAFEnetwork for over a decade and just looking at their github shows their highly experienced dev's have been working very hard for a long time.
Yes, in the US the medical community already sells patient data. For example, as soon as a woman delivers a baby they will receive ads/coupons/samples for formula milk at home.
Great episode again!
To your Question of the VPN logging.
They DO log, and there is stuff in the fine print similar to the following.
Privacy Policy: “…we will never release any information about you or your account to anyone except law enforcement personnel with the proper documentation and paperwork.”
Or from another:
“In order to prevent attacks against us your IP address will be saved temporarily on the server without being stored permanently or used for any other purposes.”
“When choosing an access point please note that only this server will process your IP address and request for the webpage you would like to access (the “Targeted Website”).”
etc.
As your rightly said. There is a contradiction of NOT tracking and knowing at the same time. Therefore VPN providers have to. At least in a very minimal form of tracking your IP from time to time. (from and to)
To really get anonymous you have to do further steps. TOR, etc.
The Cryptoverse Can you make a video that explains how laws like Right to Be Forgotten & data residency requirements are being addressed within Blockchain today? And if these laws aren't been addressed what can be done?
can a person like me invest in ico round ?
Also, in the USA, Trump is pushing to allow our ISP's to throttle bandwidth based on websites, so they could throttle down websites and networks they don't like. We need to stay diligent on net neutrality. Either we treat ISP's as public service and neutral or we allow more private ISP's to pop up and give us options.
Personally, I kinda like the idea of advertisements actually being catered to me and not random. It helps me find stuff made for me and it helps makers find people they are making stuff for. Ads not for me is the bigger problem. Ads that are random are the annoying ads. It could also help keep marketing costs down for especially smaller companies who can't afford to advertise to the whole world and only need to reach a small consumer base. But how to find you and how do you find them?
vpns dont log browsering info but they will log when you connect and disconect from their service
