While anonymity features are still the flavor of the month, a handful of Cryptos are looking at providing SMS payments. Or to have the best of both worlds, anonymous SMS payments. PinkCoin seems to be on the right track!
The PinkCoin SMS gateway is currently being developed , and some screenshots have been leaked on Twitter and BitcoinTalk. As we can see, both from the sender’s and receiver’s perspective, everything seems to work quite well. (screenshots below this article)
As a receiver you can use the SMS gateway for wallet purposes and store your coins. Or, if you prefer to do so, you can cash out the coins from your SMS balance to your actual PinkCoin wallet address, belonging to your QT client.
There is still quite a lot of work to do before the PinkCoin SMS Gateway will open up to the public. As the project is currently in beta, a lot of code still needs to be cleaned up. Passcodes will be implemented too.
One of the major concerns is the cost of running an SMS gateway. Sending an SMS costs money, so it’s hard to find the balance between going broke and and not deterring people from using the service because it costs too much.
An encrypted database will be implemented, in order to prevent anyone from looking at the database and extracting phone numbers. QR code integration is on the list as well, allowing people to send you PinkCoin by scanning your phone.
Burner wallets will allow the deletion of your SMS wallet address as to not leaving any trace of the cellphone-to-qt-wallet transaction. Last but not least, the SMS gateway will be integrated with PinkCoin’s anonymity features.
More information will be released over the coming weeks, and we will keep an eye out for any further details about this project.
