Even though Christmas is officially over, and the unwrapping of gifts took place two days ago at my house, big was my surprise when I found a gift in the mail today. Or, not a gift per se, as it was a physical item from a project I backed on the StartJOIN platform half a year ago, and completely forgot about. However, that doesn’t make the 1 oz .999 Fine Silver Physical Vericoin any less special!
The small brown envelope this item came in was sent to me by William Sedlak. It took me about 20 minutes until the name actually rang a bell, even though I was certain I knew the name from somewhere. That’s when it hit me : I once pledged US$50 in Bitcoin for a physical silver Vericoin coin on the StartJOIN platform, back when it had just launched.
Looking back in the history of my StartJOIN account, I can see that pledge was made on June 27th 2014. Things really do move fast in the world of cryptocurrency and altcoins when you come to think of it. Either way, it completely slipped my mind, so I considered this envelope a slightly late Christmas present.
On to the 1 oz .999 Silver Physical Vericoin itself then! The coin comes in a protective circular case, which will definitely decrease the chances of anything happening to the coin due to outside interference. Plus, it also makes me feel a bit more safe when I put the coin down on my desk and my kitten suddenly takes an interest in it.
On the front of the coin, we see the familiar Vericoin logo , which looks quite nice on the front of a silver coin to be honest. On the back of the coin, we see a hologram, and the word “VALID” if you hold the coin at the right angle. It also mentions this coin is a “FIRST EDITION VERICOIN”. As far as I know, this is also the only edition to date, making this coin even more interesting from a collector’s standpoint.
But that was not all to be found in the envelope, as it also contained a Certificate of Authenticity, mentioning I have coin #18, as well as the Vericoin address tied to the coin itself. It also mentions this is one of the 100 silver physical VRC coins ever created, as well as a thank you message for supporting Vericoin.
Last but not least, there were also two nicely sized Vericoin stickers in the envelope. While this may not seem as significant to most of our readers, it’s a nice touch which I personally appreciate. Then again, I love freebies as much as the next person, so that might be a factor as well.
All in all, I am very pleased to receive the coin after such a long period of time. Even though we could endlessly debate on whether or not this coin is worth US$50 at this point in time, I am very happy with the purchase I made. A big thank you goes out to the Vericoin team.
